"Tomorrow's the day". The words uttered from a restless Arthur who sat upon his bedside.

His eyes peering out the blueness of the moonlight through the opened window as the light winds blew.  He checked his phone and saw that the time was 11:34pm.

"Dad's still at work but should be getting off soon" he said quietly. "Should I ask myself? But even if did, I'm sure he'd say no".

Arthur began to ponder many things in his young mind, his heart felt heavy and his soul weary. He was but a boy who yearned for his father. He closed his eyes tightly and squeezed his phone.

Mustering what confidence he could he find he called his father. After a few rings which to Arthur felt like time had slowed down for those seconds, as if the stars halted in the sky, as if the earth took a deep breath.

The phone call was picked up. The hopefulness filled his heart but anxiousness did as well. Before he could even think of his next move his father spoke. "Yes son?"

"Hey dad, are you busy?"

"Yeah, you should know I can't really talk but is everything alright? How your mother doing?"

"Ohh well she's doing good, I don't mean to bother I was just wondering if you were going to be able to come tomorrow is all". There was a brief moment of pause after those words left his mouth.

After some waiting, his hope seemed to die out. "Well, if you can't I'll understand! I know work can be busy but I'll do my best".

On the other line where his father was, a deep breath could be heard. "Listen, I'm sorry for not being there lately. It's been a mess lately but I'm trying my hardest to fix it, I know it might not be much but I'll be home this weekend instead. I love you son, I know you'll do good"

Arthur who seemed conflicted compromised his feelings and felt the heavy waves of his heart calm. "Yeah, sounds good and I'm sorry to bother.. have a goodnight and I love you"

"Love you too Arthur"

He looked at his screen and hung up before his father could. Taking a deep breath and falling back to comfort of his bed fell asleep there and then until the morning arose from the eastern skies.

As the sun crept up higher and higher, the young Arthur slumbered still in bed. As he did so his mother called out to him from the first floor as the base of the stairs "Arthur!" She cried out. "You're going to be late". Her expression went from anxious to annoyed to anger in such a short while. What a terrifying women one could say.

As soon as her heavy footsteps of anger, Arthur seemed to snap out of his own plain of dream like existence. With bed head and his droopy like eyes looking around the room. "Uuugh, what time is it?" He said to himself.

"Time to get up!!" His mother yelled behind him.

"AHHH!!! Mom! Please don't do that!" He said as he turned around in fright. "Listen, you're not going to get ready on time and I have to go to work soon, so you're taking the bus alright"

She left without saying another word. Mean while Arthur turned to see his clock reading the hour of 7:07am.'"aw crap" he said and he began racing to get dressed. Finding what clothes he could wear for the day.

He began putting on a dress white long sleeve shirt, spraying himself with deodorant all over, then putting on a pair of black dress pants, followed by black dressing shoes. He quickly washed his golden hair, parting it the way he always liked and then applying the finishing touch with a black tie

As he finished his small preparations. He grabbed his musical notes and then headed out just as the bus arrived.

"Good morning" he said to the bus driver who was an elderly fellow. "Morning son, haven't seen ya in sometime" said the bus driver in his Texan accent.

"It has" Arthur said as he sat down. All along the bus ride, he stared out the window glaring at the passing trees, not noticing those who got on.

His heart although troubled for time, being filled with anxiousness and tormented by fear was for this brief moment at piece. His soul like a gentle stream, his eyes like a light house guiding the passing ships. This was his resolve and conviction.

It at long last the evening on the event. Arthur already dressed up sat up straight looking at his musical pieces.

As he was deep in thought he wondered if his father would be present. He knew his mother and friend Eli surely had arrived early and were seated, but the thought remained in his mind about his father.

As he was about to get up, Bridgette came up right beside him. "Mind if I sit here?" She asked and Arthur who couldn't help himself but turn slightly red. "O Of course" he stuttered and she smiled he felt while she sat.

Feeling the regret of his own stutter, he began to attack himself within his mind but halted as started to talk to him. Asking him how he was feeling and if he was ready.

Arthur couldn't help but glance with slight daggers in his eyes, observing her outfit. He had never seen someone so beautiful as her he thought.

Her top was buttoned white shirt and she sported a black skirt just slightly above the knees and black heels. Her hair curly for the occasion, all the whole Arthur felt discouraged as he barely got up that morning fighting his bed hairs one by one.

After a minute of silence she turned towards him. "Arthur" she said. He turned towards her slightly. "Mhmm" he said with a crooked brow.

"So i have a question"

"Sure, what is it?" His mind started to write up scenarios of blind romance, all the while his heart raced like an F1 race.

"I know this is embarrassing" she looked down towards the earth as Arthur leaned in closer. His brain simulating countless possibilities as any clueless teenager would.

"So does Eli like anyone"?

Although that's what went through this mind and not actually what she said but it didn't stop Arthur from grabbing his chest slightly.

"next month I have a concert coming up for my Church, I was curious if you'd like to play a duet with me? I'd be playing the cello and you'd play the piano of course".

Arthur who couldn't believe at all that a girl he was interested in would ask but of course he knew it nothing more than a favor. "Yeah, no worries. It'd be nice to do so"

"Really?! Oh thank you! You just saved me a lot of time looking for someone. I was nervous since you're awesome at playing and it'd be great to play beside someone like you" she said with eyes of admiration for him.

"Well of course, I won't ask you to do it for free and don't you can't say no either. This means a lot" her voice was sincere and genuine Arthur thought and couldn't help but stutter once more. "Uhh, o-o-okay, sounds good"

She then pulled out her phone. "What's your number?"

Arthur couldn't believe how fast things were going he thought but tried to play it off cool but before words or numbers in this case could be exchanged the teacher reminded everyone to prepare as it 5 minutes until they had to be in there places.

Arthur looked disappointed but Bridgette turned around and spoke. "after the concert then, come and find me alright or I'll find you Arthur, well good luck"

She stood up and went over to talk to the teacher, all the while, Arthur was calm, clear and ready.
