Hi! Thanks for reading my story. It really means a lot to me. I hope you enjoy it. So, this next part will be told from Kaida's point of view. Most of the other ones will be as well, probably. I might show Merlin's point of view a few times here and there, but I'll tell you at the begginning of each chapter. Despite my best efforts, there will probably be some grammar or spelling errors. I'm sorry. So, yeah. Read on. I hope you enjoy. :)

I stared out the window and sighed. It was nice out, but I had lessons. They got in the way a lot. I couldn't go out hunting with my friends as much as I wanted anymore. It was annoying at times. Actually, it was annoying all the time. But my father insisted and as he was the head guard at the palace, I kind of had to do what he wanted...

"Kaida? Are you paying attention at all?" My tutor snapped angrily. I sighed, tearing my gaze away fromt the beautiful scene outside. My heart ached for the freedom to run and be free, but I couldn't. That was something that I wasn't allowed to do anymore.

"Yes," I sighed, looking at him. He was an older man with graying brown hair and beady, dark brown eyes. He was small and weak and old and he and I didn't get along. At all. My father had hired the worst tutor ever. Master Orison was rude and smelled like rotting parchment. It was no wonder that he had no woman in his life other than his students.

"Good. Now, pay attention," Master Orison snapped, turning his back to me. I made a face at his back, thinking that he wouldn't see. I was wrong, though, and he quickly turned around.

"What was that?" He growled at me, his eyes narrowing into slits. Master Orison was a pixie. One who was stuck in his human form. That, however, didn't stop him from being a complete royal pain.

"Nothing," I said, trying to look as innocent as possible. He growled, but didn't say anything and else and turned back around. I sighed in relief and was careful to stay on my best behaviour. Loath as I was to admit it, Master Orison actually scared me.

"Now, back when the wizards first came to be, the fey were on their way to becoming the biggest empire. They were progressing more than even the elves. Do you remember what happened to stop their progress?" Master Orison asked, turning back around to look at me.

"I don't know. Didn't the elves come across dragon magic?" I shrugged, ignoring him. I didn't really care. What did it matter? The elves controlled pretty much everything anymore. Merlin had been the only one who had kept them in line, but he was gone now.

He had gone missing a long time ago and no one knew why. Just poof. Gone. Some suspected the Elf King had something to do with it, but no one would dare say anything like that to him.

"Kaida! You need to pay more attention!" He snapped, baring his pointed teeth at me. I tried not to shrink away from his gaze and instead looked down at my hands.

"Why does it even matter? The elves control everything now," I muttered. It was true, after all. They controlled trade and land and magick and their word was law.

"It matters, Kaida, because you need to know this!" He shouted, his face getting close to mine. His breath was hot against my cheek and stunk of alcohol.

"WHY?! WHY THE HELL DO I NEED TO KNOW ANY OF THIS?!" I shouted back, standing up. I was tired of taking this.

"Because it matters. Now, you were correct about the dragon magic, but why did that stop the fey from progressing as fast as they once did?" He said, calming down a bit.

"The elves used it against the fey?" I asked. I honestly had no idea...

"Yes. But why? Why would it interest the elves to have the fey advance less rapidly?" He questioned, peering over at me expectantly.
