 Chapter Nineteen

"Babysitting Lottie"

“Good morning, Anna Lee!” Jay exclaimed as I walked down the grand stairs and into the living room.

“Morning, Jay!” I replied happily, skipping straight into the kitchen.

“How’d you sleep?”

“Very well!” I grabbed an apple off the counter and took a bite.

“Why are you so cheery this morning?” Jacob yawned, walking out of his and Jay’s bedroom. I grinned,

“I don’t know. Maybe it was Louis’ wake up call.” Jay laughed,

“Did he sing that good morning song again?” I nodded. Jacob burst out laughing,

“Someday we need to set up cameras and blackmail him with this stuff.” I smirked,

“I already have a ton of him on my phone!”

“You should post one on twitter!” Jay suggested. I pulled out my phone and chose one of my favorite blackmail pictures: Louis fake picking his nose. (but only I knew that!)

“The fans are going to love this!” Jay said, laughing as her phone dinged with a twitter notification. We suddenly heard a door slam from upstairs.

“ANNA LEE TOMLINSON!” Louis yelled. My eyes widened,

“Hide me!” Jacob grabbed my hand and led me to him and Jay’s bedroom.

“Under the bed!” He hissed, letting go of my hand and leaving the room, closing the door behind him.  The bed was tall. Tall enough that I could sit up underneath.  I snuggled into the rug – why is there a rug under a bed anyways? I lifted it up to see a handle. A secret passage? Sweet! This must have been why Jacob told me to come under here!

I pulled the handle, and as I expected, it opened up to some sort of secret passage. I slipped in and closed the door behind me and started to climb down the stairs, holding onto the rail for the support. It was pitch black. I reached the last step and started to feel around the wall for a light switch. Bull’s eye! I flicked it on and the room illuminated. It looked to be like a playroom – toys were scattered and a huge flat screen T.V. was hung on the wall.

“What is this place?” I wondered aloud.

“It’s me and my dad’s hideout.” I spun around to see Lottie with her arms crossed appearing from the shadows in the room. “Why are you in here?” She asked crossly.

“Your dad sent me down here,” I admitted, “But only because Louis was about to kill me.” Her phone suddenly pinged.

“I’m guessing this is why Louis was about to kill you?” She asked, trying not to laugh.

“Yep.” We looked at each other and burst out laughing. The laughter quickly died and we were met with an awkward silence. I coughed,

“Hey Lottie?” She turned to look at me.

“Yeah?”

“I’m sorry for whatever I did to you. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.” I spun around on my heel and started to walk out of the room.

“Wait, Anna Lee,” Lottie croaked, “I’m sorry.” I went back over to her. “I was jealous,” She admitted, “You live with Louis and the boys. The girls think you’re a rock star. Even Mom and Dad adore you. I      just,” She sniffed, “Missed Louis and I didn’t want you to take him away from me.” I pulled her into a hug as the tears leaked out of her eyes.
