Chapter 11

The room fell silent and the only thing you could hear was Jinx's heavy breathing. We both looked up to see some of her bullets went through the chair Silco sat in and he got hit with a few of them too. Jinx dropped the gun and ran to his side "no, no, no, no I'm sorry" she said falling on her knees in front of him "oh I'm so sorry" she said crying as Silco struggled to stay awake. I quickly put my bag down on the ground and got out the medication and my gem necklace "I never would have given you to them, not for anything" he said as Jinx started crying "don't cry. You're perfect" he said as he closed his eyes and Jinx stood up "oh no you don't. Listen to me you son of a bitch. You are not dying today" I said and quickly got the bullets out of his chest and getting him to breathe again "if anyone's going to kill you it's going to be me" I whispered before standing up as Jinx stood in front of the chair with the name Jinx on it. She sat down in it looking broken "I thought maybe you could love me like you used to... even though I'm...different. But you changed too so... here's to the new us" she said standing up and taking her mini gun before grabbing the gemstone, coming over to me and giving me a hug "thank you" she said before going to the broken stairs and I followed her. Once on the upper level she put her mini-gun down and went over to a piece of cloth before pulling it off to reveal a rocket launcher beneath it "woah" I said in amazement. She put the gem in to power it up and went to the edge where there was a nice view of the city. She aimed it at the academy and when it had enough power with tears streaming down her face she pulled the trigger and fired the rocket "I showed them. I showed them all" she said before taking my hand and we left but not before I took Silco's body back to my hideout "come on we'll be safe here for now" I said but Jinx didn't say anything "why did you bring his body?" She finally asked as I put him on the couch "because if I left him there, he would have died" I said and she started crying "he is dead and it's all my fault" she said and I shook my head "no he's not" I said and she looked shocked at me "what do you mean?" she asked and I got the bullets out of my pocket "I managed to get them out just in time" I said and looked at his sleeping figure on the other couch "he's gonna be okay?" She asked and I nod my head smiling "he'll be fine but until he is all healed up, I think you should be in charge of the Undercity" I said "what? No, I couldn't. I don't know the first thing about being a leader" she said and sat down next to Silco "come on it shouldn't be that hard. You've seen Silco do it" I urged and she looked at him "what about the topsiders?" She asked and I looked out the window "leave that to me" I said before Silco slowly opened his eyes. Looking all around the room his eyes land on Jinx "Jinx!" he said giving her a hug and she started crying again "I thought you were dead" she said as I stood up and walked out of the room to give them a chance to talk. I went to the kitchen to prepare dinner. After about an hour Silco came into the kitchen "she's finally asleep" he said "that's good" I said still not looking at him "look at me" he said and I sighed before turning around to face him "I thought you looked familiar that day you came into my office...Ash" he said and I ignored the statement finishing dinner and putting it on the dining table "I'll go wake her. Please help yourself" I said before I was about to leave but he stopped me "let her sleep. It's been an eventful day for her" he said and I sat back down "so...?" he started "what?" I asked and he looked at the ground "how have you been all these years?" He asked awkwardly "oh you mean aside from the amazing childhood I had, I've been doing fantastic thanks for asking" I said and he avoided eye contact for a while "I'm sorry for selling you out" he said "and?" I asked crossing my arms "and for the stories I heard of what happened to your family" he said looking away shamefully "have you heard about me in prison too?" I asked and it was silent "yeah I thought so" I said standing up and leaving the room. I couldn't stand to look at him right now . I went back to the living room where Jinx was slowly waking up "hey Jinx, sleep okay?" I asked and she looked around the room "I guess" she said before we heard the alarms go off in Piltover "what is that?" She asked as Silco joined us while I looked out the window "that is my problem" I said going to the door "what are you doing? They're gonna kill you" Jinx said and I laughed "you can't kill someone that's already dead" I said before she hugged me tightly "thank you for saving me Jinx" I said before looking at Silco "take care of our daughter" I said and closed the door behind me. Walking in the empty streets felt different tonight. Everyone was hiding away in their homes as I looked around. You could still hear the alarms blaring as I made my way towards the bridge only to be met with a few hundred enforcers led by Caitlin and at her side was Vi "where is Jinx?" Caitlin spat and I shrugged "no idea" I said and she and the other enforcers aimed their guns at me "where is she?!" Vi asked and I smirked "as if you care" I said and she was about to punch me in the face but I blocked it and did a counterattack "you're all going to pay for killing my mother" Caitlin said and I laughed "sure go ahead and try" I said with open arms and she was about to shoot but she was attacked by someone. It was Sevika "I'm with you Ash" she said "wait, how did you know my name?" I asked before someone spoke up from behind us "I told her" I turned around to face Silco and Jinx along with a few others all from the Undercity. United as one. We were the Nation of Zaun. I turned around to face our foes who were shaking with fear "now what was it you were saying about us going to pay?" I asked as my arms were engulfed in flames and I aimed it at the enforcers behind them. I threw a giant fireball at them and killed all the competition except for Caitlin and Vi "I'll give you a single chance to walk away and go back to your miserable pathetic lives and from here on out no one from Piltover is to step foot in the Undercity or they'll have to deal with me" I said before we heard another pair of footsteps "and who are you to make such demands. The Undercity will never be independent with the murders you committed" Jayce said "oh please I did everyone a favor. Cassandra was just collateral damage" I said before I was about to walk but Jayce grabbed me by the arm before Sevika punched him in the face with the only arm she had left "nice punch" I noted and she and the rest of the people escorted me back to the Undercity "that was so cool mom" Jinx said and I couldn't help but grin widely "did you just call me mom?" I asked and she smiled "I guess I did" she said as we made our way back to the Undercity and to the Last Drop. When we entered everyone sat down and I stood at the bar with Silco and Jinx beside me "what do we do now?" someone from the crowd asked and Silco was about to answer but Jinx beat him to it "now we fight back. They wanted us to run and hide..." she said standing on the bar "let's show them what it means to mess with us" she said and the room was quiet before everyone started clapping and cheering. A few moments later Jinx jumps down and walks over to us "that's what a leader does" I said and she smiled "Ash, a word in my office" Silco said and I looked at Jinx who smiled before giving me a nod. I took a deep breathe before following Silco all the way to his office. When we entered he closed the door behind me and he went to his chair while I sat on the couch "why am I here?" I asked crossing my arms "you're here because I want peace between us" he said and I rolled my eyes "I don't think we're quite there yet" I said standing up and walking towards the door "and what about Jinx's opinion about this?" He asked and I turned around "what are you talking about?" I asked crossing my arms "we both care about her like parents should but we have to put the past behind us in order to protect her properly" he said holding up a glass of scotch and I sighed knowing he does have a point "fine, just don't expect us to be friends. I will never forgive you for what you did" I said taking the glass and downing it all in one go and he smirked "you think I'd ever let you take my daughter away from me?" He asked as I started to feel woozy "what?" I asked and looked at my shaking hands "what have you done to me?" I asked "I didn't do anything. It was you who drank the poison provided" he said and left through the door, leaving me to die "I'll kill you for this" I said and fell to the floor before being surrounded by purple smoke and passing out.
