RWBY: Spartans Never Die [CANCELED]

Chapter 9: Tragedy

1800 HOURS, JULY 23RD, 2557 (MILITARY CALENDAR) / OUM SYSTEM, AMITY COLOSSEUM, VALE

John walked down the hall of Amity. His breathing started to stabilize, but he still heard the ringing in his ears, but it started to fade into nothing
The war hero kept walking until he was at the arena
"John, are you okay?" Cortana chirped in through John's COM unit

John didn't reply. He was still puzzled on what happened back in the security room.
"John, don't give me the silent treatment. Tell me what's going on." The 'smart' AI said with slight concern in her voice

"Cortana." John spoke, "I need you to check up on my current status."
John didn't want to risk the mission. He didn't know if he was or wasn't combat ready, but even so, he still didn't know what caused the ringing or the loss of oxygen

"On it." Cortana replied
About four seconds later, Cortana spoke up, "I'm getting nothing from you now, but I suggest you sit this mission out." Cortana advised

John heard the clashing of swords. Looked up to see a television and saw two students fighting in the tournament
One looked like a civilian while the other looked like an ancient Spartan or an Amazon from Greek mythology
John saw strings that were connected to the swords that led to the civilian looking students' back
"Cortana, Identify."

"Already on it." Cortana replied as she began to check the two students' files. "The students are Penny Polendina and Pyrrha Nikos, Penny is with Atlas Academy, poor girl, and Pyrrha is with Beacon Academy."

John looked back at the battle, taking place. He looked at the aura monitor and saw that Penny's aura was at the yellow zone while Pyrrha's was nearing the red zone, but something felt off about Penny's attacks. It almost looked at if she was trying to kill her

"John, I'm getting some weird readings coming from Penny." Cortana said
"Is it her aura?" John asked, "Negative, it's something else... John, if I'm reading this correctly, Penny isn't a 'girl' to put it lightly." Cortana replied

"What do you mean?" John asked
A file appeared in his heads-up display. The file was labeled with classified on it
"Cortana, how did you -"
"Get classified files?" Cortana interrupted, "Let's just say that Samuel was right about Atlas's encryption schemes being a joke."

John read the file. He didn't know what he was expecting, but it sure as hell wasn't what he was reading.
"Penny's an android." John said as he finished reading her file

"John, I'm picking up something." Cortana said

"Cortana, do Penny's eyes usually turn red?" John asked
"No, why?"
"Search for any viruses. We need to stop the fight." John said as he turned on his TEAMCOM
"This is Sierra-117 to Teams Green, Kilo, and Noble. We have a security breach within Amity Colosseum." John stated, "Kilo-5 and Green team, are in charge of the civilian evacuation of Amity, Noble team, Green-Epsilon, evacuate civilians underneath Amity, make sure to get as many people out of there as possible." The war hero ordered as he ran to the arena

As he was running, John looked at his bottom left. Underneath his motion tracker showed four green dots light up.

John made it to the arena, he saw numerous civilians, and the two students fighting

"Cortana, try and -" Before he could finish though, he saw Penny lung her swords at Pyrrah
Pyrrah panicked and repelled the swords while using her semblance. The strings that were attached to the swords went around Penny, the strings tore her apart, and she fell to the ground, fuel leaking out of her exposed wounds and sparks flickering

"I...can't...control, myself..." Penny said before her eyes dimmed, and what remained was a lifeless corpse

Pyrrah collapsed onto her knees, eyes filled with shock. She looked around to see that the audience was not pleased with what she did
