That night I was finishing some geometry homework when I felt my phone vibrate. I went to look at who had sent me the notification. I saw the name and my mouth formed a large 'O' shape. The message was from James. I quickly slid opened my phone and looked at the message. It read,
Is that offer for a tour still opened?
I felt flushed. I had had a lot of progress with Tyler today, that I had forgotten all about James. I thought it would be fine to show him around town. After all, he was new, he needed some guidance. So I texted back.
Yes. It defiantly is.
A few minutes later he said,
How’s this Friday?
I sighed. I had plans with Tyler that day. Would Tyler really know if I decided to cancel and go out with James for a night? There would be no harm. He was just a friend. Tyler would have to understand that I had friends. Even if I told him that the reason for my canceling was a sudden family issue. So I replied,
Fine with me!
I felt guilty about what I was doing to Tyler. He would be upset. He sounded almost as excited as I was yesterday. During my thinking, another text from James had come,
Cool! I’ll come by and pick u up after school. Good?
I told him this was fine and I was looking forward to it a ton. I found myself smiling a lot the rest of that night.
