(Peril)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20 minutes earlier...

Peril muttered to herself in her sleep, as the sun rose over the Skywing Palace - and inconveniently - into her room. She frowned as a stray sunbeam hovered over her closed eye, reflecting off of the tapestry of Queen Scarlet she had framed on the wall. Almost as if the Queen herself was disapproving of Peril. Not that she had chosen to put it there. It seemed like the Queen was everywhere. Especially in the palace which she lived, but there wasn't much Peril could do about it.

Not that she saw much point to do anything about it. Queen Scarlet was the queen after all.

She stretched her wings, covering her face with a talon to block out the bright light, and after failing to do so, decided to get up. The brightest thing in the room besides sunlight was her scales. Not just from their color, but also the heat. As Peril got up, there was a noticeable darkened blackened spot on the stone marking where she had been sleeping. The surface of the stone ground scorched and blackened from contact with her body.

Peril didn't have a bed. Or at least not a proper one. Her 'bed' in the tall circular chamber that she called her room was a large stone slab, which felt permanently heated from years of contact with her body. It wasn't exactly the comfiest resting space, but she had learned to get used to it.

To be fair, it was understandable why she wasn't allowed much sleeping comfort. After all, having flammable products such as silk pillows or blankets nearby a Dragon who had an uncontrollable habit of setting everything about her on fire was probably not a good idea, so much of Peril's room was rather bare as consequence. No pillows. No scrolls. Only a raised stone platform for her to sleep on, and the tapestry of Queen Scarlet on the wall, out of the way to ensure it wasn't accidentally destroyed. Scarlet's tapestry wasn't the only decoration in the room, as the walls were decorated with other carvings and tapestries depicting various scenes from Skywing history, which were also well out of the way to ensure they weren't accidently destroyed, and beyond that was a stone balcony giving her a view of the outside world.

As Peril got up, she stretched her body once more, loosening her joints and wings, as she blinked the sleep out of her light blue eyes. She walked over to the balcony, emerging into the sunlight to be met with a beautiful view.

Beyond her room stretched the vast snowcapped mountains of the Skywing territory as her room was situated in the Northen tower, which overlooked the edge of the palace and out into the valley beyond, where she could see green forests and the Diamo...

Beyond her room stretched the vast snowcapped mountains of the Skywing territory as her room was situated in the Northen tower, which overlooked the edge of the palace and out into the valley beyond, where she could see green forests and the Diamond Spray River, which flowed from Skywing territory out into the sea according to the maps she had been taught, as she had never left, nor was allowed to leave the vicinity of the Skywing palace, under the watchful eyes of Queen Scarlet.

Peril yawned, feeling the rays of warm sun bath her for a little longer, before deciding that it was probably a good idea to get something to eat. Last night had been an... eventful night to say the least.
