I should have known. I should have connected her name with her face. Kym, while a common-sounding name, was not often spelled like that. I had seen her name, just like that, in the news previously.

Before I knew it, Kym had made her excuses and picked up her things. As she left the cafe, chimes in her wake, I knew I should not have asked. It was a mistake, no matter how much I wanted to date and get to know her better.

The chai was cold in my mug now. I took a sip and the bitterness of the teabag being left in for too long dominated the once sweet flavour.
