Kal was awake but still losing quite a bit of blood. If he wasn't a shifter he would probably be dead. The wound was trying to heal but the blood loss was just too great.

"Rachel, help me bring him in. Scott, go grab mom and tell her to meet me in the front," I shouted.

Scott ran inside and Rachel and I put each of Kal's arms over our shoulders. We were barely through the doors when my mom came rushing over.

"Whitney what's going on? Are you hurt?" she exclaimed.

I looked down to see I was covered in Kal's blood. My stomach did a flip as I realized how bad he was hurt.

"No Mom it's his blood, please go get Dad," I said, my voice quiet and weak

"Honey let me..."

"Mom go get Dad now!"

She nodded, dropped the motherly look, and put on her nurse face. "You're right, I'll be right back."

A team of nurses came out and started to put him on a stretcher. They cut his shirt off and immediately inserted I.Vs. He looked pale but still awake.

"Whitney..."

I reached out and rushed my fingers across his face. "Don't worry Kal I'm coming."

"No you're not," said Trish, an old friend of my Mom's and the senior nurse here.

"Trish I have to go with him," I pleaded.

"Not until we get him stable. You know how it goes Whitney and I can't make any exceptions for you. Let us do our jobs first and then you can see him."

"Okay," I said bowing my head in defeat and walked over to the waiting area. Scott and Rachel followed and we all took our seats next to each other.

"Do you think he'll be okay," asked Rachel staring at her hands.

"I'm not sure but I do know that he's at the best hospital in the state and once my Dad gets here he'll take good care of him."

"I'm sorry Whitney this really sucks," said Scott kicking the chair.

Just then my Mom and Dad came running in.

"Whitney are you okay?" asked my Dad as he came skidding to a halt in front of me.

"Dad I'm fine, please go help my friend," I shouted, pointing towards the hall. I was sick of everyone asking if I was okay when Kal could be dying.

"Dr. Moon this way please. He has a pretty deep wound and it looks like the knife punctured his kidney," said Trish.

My Dad gave me one last look before him and my Mom ran to Kal's room. I wanted to introduce my parents to him but not under these circumstances. This was going to be bad. I knew my Dad would do everything he could to help Kal but a lecture was headed my way. Hell, I'd be lucky if a lecture was all I got.

The three of us sat there for about two hours, barely saying anything to each other. I could tell Rachel was about to have a nervous breakdown so I left her alone. Scott seemed anxious and kept glancing down the hallway. I chose to stare at the ceiling and count the tiles. I couldn't live with myself if my ex-boyfriend killed Kal because of me.

The nurses kept urging me to go home and change but I didn't want to. I knew I would have to face the consequences, whatever they were.

My Dad finally came into the waiting room and had a mixture of relief and anger across his face.

"How is he?" asked Rachel jumping up and running over to my dad.

"He'll be fine sweetie. You can go see him now but he's sleeping."
