my home life was great I swear(I'm lying)

My house never felt like home
Yes I had my own room
It was small
Barely fitting the twin sized mattress
My uncle was quick to point out that it wasn't my room
That it was his
He owned it
That he had simply granted 6 year old me to
Borrow the space
Or like when I was given a pop tart I was told
"You should be lucky I'm feeding you"
"It's against the law to starve you, it doesn't say the food has to be good"
Which yes is technically true
But it's so odd as a kid
To feel like my existence was simply a debt
A burden almost
To feel as if I was simply renting my family home
As if I should be so greatful for the bare minimum
