Before I met Death

Woods.
Still running.
No one chasing me.
Death chasing me.

Tears blurred sight. Missed branch. Landed on shins. Knees scraped open.
Void inside, spreading through veins, staining blood black.
Everything turning dark empty, replaced by nothing.
Light disappearing. Flames of a candle blown out.

Drowning in the darkness, no ability to feel.
Void unbearable, pain consuming.

A scream.

Looked up at the sky.
Let it all out.
Birds flew away, horrified at the sound of my scream.
Echo in the forest.

"No, ...please, no."

Tears. Torturous headache.
Countdown bouncing in my skull.
Hollow weak shell of a human in the middle of the woods in the dead of the night.
Lids got heavier, fought back of fear of my dreams.

Death would chase me in them.
Lost.

VII

Rumbling thunder.
Storm brewing. Heavy louds darkened already black sky, lightning flashing.

Night had taken a turn.

Whisp of chilly air.
Snuggled into blanket.

Hold on.

Blanket?
BLANKET?
It had not been there.
Terrified.

Rumpled the leaves on the ground. Caught a glimpse of something.
Paper. Writing.
Picked up, brushed dirt off. Moonlight fell on it.

"Do not be afraid; I am with you all the time, listening and seeing." /20:46 – Forgive me

Tear traced cheek.
Small flame flared up inside of me.
Words touched my soul.
Forgive me?
Who are you?

Questions plaguing me, would keep me up for nights.
Silence was killed.
Lightning struck a tree, crown on fire. No corner left unburned.
Entire tree engulfed in flames.

Sky let it all out too.
Rain soaking through blanket.
Blazing branch broke off.

Fire coming at me.
Reach me, burn me.

Remembered faith in the Lord.

Stood up and ran.
A burning sensation inside. Fiery flames inside my chest, growing, growing, growing.
Protecting note in my fist.
Flames chased me.
Ground quaking under my feet.
Ran until I was on the streets.
Ran where to?

Home?
What home?
Home was no longer home.

Memories.
Emergency home.
Hut.

"There will come a day when you will have to protect yourself and beware of something. Your home won't be safe for you, you won't to be able to trust anyone, so this hut will be your safe place."

Hut between the thick forest behind our backyard.
In hiding.
50/50 chance.
Find the place. Or end up as dinner for bloodthirsty animal.
Found the hut.
Hidin the hut.
