Finally it's winter break and hockey season is over. Don't get me wrong I love hockey with my whole heart but fuck me it's tiring.
It's currently Friday afternoon and me and Nat are in the grocery store getting ingredients for cookies she wants to make.
Everyone else is at my place doing god knows what, Abby and Theo are probably arguing over stupid shit while Cole and JJ just sit and watch. That's how it normally is these days.
Instead of everyone waiting for me and Nat to finally get together we're waiting for Abby and Theo to confess. Their definitely taking their sweet time I'll tell you that.
"Can you reach that please?" Nat asks me pointing at the bag of flour on the top shelf.
"Of course love." I grab the flour with ease before putting it in the cart.
"Thanks." She gives me a small smile before continuing to walk down the isle.
She's been off the past few days, more quiet and distant. For a bit I thought i did something but then I realised it's because of her mom.
Her first Christmas without her.
I haven't spoken to her about it yet because i know she doesn't like to bring it up so I give her space. She knows I'm here if she needs me.
It was my idea for us to bake stuff tonight because i know she loves to bake and I want her to be focused on something else for a while. I told the others to leave us be for tonight as well so it's just us.
We wander into the candy section and Nat doesn't even look twice at the sour patch kids or the jolly ranchers. Instead she just continues to walk with her head slightly down.
I let her keep walking but I pick up her favourites and place them in the cart knowing she will thank my later.
"Come on sweetheart we've got all we need." I wrap my arm around her waist letting her lean against me as we walk to the checkout.
She does the scanning as i do the packing, when she scans the candy she looks at me with a small smile, all I do is wink before packing them away.
Once we're done we make it back the car packing the bags in the back. I make sure to open the door for Nat and help her in before getting in my side.
The car ride is quiet only filled with Taylor's new album 'Midnights', I see Nat looking out the window admiring the snow covering the city.
