The first time Voldemort was “defeated” was because of the protection of Lily towards Harry, because her son was too young to actually perform magic and to even understand it.
Yes he was weakened but not fully dead and we know how he comes back and tries harder to kill Harry but like always he doesn’t succeed! As he never understood the concept of love, also selflessness.
In the end he was truly defeated by Harry with the help of his friends of course…so in my conclusion every single character on Harry’s side had a part to play in the downfall of Voldy.
