Before we get too absorbed into our questions, we'd like to know about your life outside of Wattpad. Who are you on your days off writing?

Jescie: I am a stay-at-home mom, who writes when she can, and works part-time as a veterinary technician at a local veterinary clinic.

Then you must be an animal lover! Do you have any pets? If not, which animal would you adopt as a pet? I promise we'll get back to our main questions but I can't help myself but ask since I'm an animal lover too. XD

Jescie: I'm a huge animal lover! I adopted a black and white pitbull named Beanie! He's 11 now, and the best dog ever ❤️

So we're curious to know. How did you manage to come across Wattpad? How has it affected your writing till date?

Jescie: I had heard of the After Series by Anna Todd, and was sucked in almost immediately! Wattpad has helped me refine my craft, and the interactions between the readers and myself have aided in pushing me toward my ultimate goal of publishing.

We're so happy to hear that! What were your initial results when you first started posting your books? Where do you get your inspiration from?

Jescie: When I first started getting feedback, I was terrified, yet exhilarated! The responses were generally all really positive, so I pushed forward and kept writing. My inspiration often stems from the chaos of the world around me. I have a wild fascination with psychology, consciousness, and all things science related so many of my stories are deeply intertwined with raw human connection. Personally, I love stories with depth and realistic aspects that are generally painfully beautiful.

So how often do you write? Do you have a specific schedule, or do you write only when you feel inspired?

Jescie: I focus on writing at least a few hours a day, if possible. Granted, things change and inspiration comes at different times. When it flows, it flows and I embrace it, but often I've found that writing, regardless if it's my best work or not, is a great exercise to continuously stay inspired.

Can you tell the readers about your works? Your book - HAWKE was shortlisted for Wattys 2021 and we are huge fans of Nicole and Hawke as well as Briony and Aero from "THAT SIK LUV". What was your first reaction when you learned about this achievement? Is there any scene from your works that you are extremely attached to?

Jescie: Hawke is an enemies-to-lovers (roommate) forbidden romance that has you second guessing judging a book by its cover as secrets become exposed and feelings get messy and entirely too real.

THAT SIK LUV is a dark romance set in a religious, cult-like society where a mysterious stalker, Aero, tries to bring dark truths to light while simultaneously psychotically obsessing over the main character, Briony, bringing her to her own sexual awakening.

The Canary Cowards is a sports romance in which the main character, Dylan, accepts a job as a physiotherapist to the moody, broody, and famous playboy, Lake Decker, all while simultaneously being the sole caregiver to her autistic older brother. When I found out Hawke was chosen for the wattys shortlist, I was ecstatic! I was in disbelief that my little book was chosen!

There are so many scenes that continuously live with me, but one that always sticks is the car scene between Cameron Hawke and Cole in the car, when he breaks and begs her to voice her love for him. It's a deeply emotional scene that shows this bad boys ultimate need for unconditional love.

And I almost forgot Kid! KID is a spinoff of Hawke. He's a side character in the story who deals with addiction and falling hard for the wrong girl at the right time.

That's wonderful! And if there was one character from your books that you could bring to life and spend a day with them, who would it be and why? Our personal choice would be Hawke. XD

Jescie: I would definitely bring KID to life. He's practically sunshine in human form and would keep you laughing nonstop with his naughty sense of humor.

Do you have any advice/message for new writers ?

Jescie: My advice and message to new writers is simple. Find your story and your own voice in whatever moves you, whether it be light-hearted and loving, or painful, real, and raw. Push boundaries of the uncomfortable and escape your safety net when finding that. Explore the unknown facets and complexities of human emotion and make yourself uncomfortable in doing so. By doing that, your story will sink into the souls of those who can relate, leaving them etched with your little world of words indefinitely.
