chapter 2- girl of my dreams

When after the movie max asked olive if she could spend the night Olive was surprised to say the least

olive and max hadn't had a sleepover since April .. both the girls were subconsciously avoiding one another

olive leaned against her bed as she sat on the floor max across from her as she listened to max bicker and complain about Lucas

olive flipped through her magazine gazing up every once in a while so max thought she was listening

olive was a little irritated .. max asks to have a sleepover just complain about her boyfriend who obviously wasn't right for her

5 times. 5 times they had broken up.

"liv are you listening?" Max asked

"mhm" olive replied as glanced up at max

"what did I just say then?" Max questioned as she moved forward to olive

"something about how Lucas said red was his least favorite color?" Olive answers feeling like the whole conversation was stupid but she cared about max..

and if max cared about this she was going to pretend too

"wow, you listen better than Lucas" max replies

maybe I don't know.. date me instead?

olive wished they would just finally break up.. not only for olives own benefit but because her two best friends were hurting each-other and it wasn't helping anyone

" livvy" max repeats as she tries to get olive's attention

"Maxie" olive mocks in the same tone making max grin

"you aren't very talkative today" max points out as she leaned over and pushed a piece of hair behind olives ear

making olives face go bright red

olives thoughts feel fuzzy as she tried to focus on what she was going to say

but she felt like she was going to pass out ...

how was Olive supposed to tell her

sorry max I'm not very talkative because I've like you since you moved here and I want you to break up with your boyfriend

olive sighed "sorry" she said as pressed her chin into her knee

"are you going to tell me what's wrong? or ..are you just going to avoid me for another month" max asks making olives eyes widen in surprise that she even noticed

"what it's the truth isn't it?" Max asks olive again

"no but .. yes" olive replies as she throws the magazine onto her bed

"did I do something wrong? Are you mad at me?" Max begged for a answer olive just sat there not knowing what to tell her

"no you didn't do anything wrong .. we've just gotten busy max I don't know what else to say" olive shrugs acting like the whole conversation didn't make her feel miserable

"bullshit" max suddenly says in a louder tone "I'm not stupid liv, I can tell when someone's avoiding me" max stated

"You really want to know max?" Olive asked as max nodded her head in confirmation

"because everything is always about Lucas now.. and I'm sick of listening to it, we used to talk about everything and now we're stuck on a stupid boy" Olive rambles as max looks at her

Olive can see how max's face scrunches like it always does when she's mad

"it's not that I don't want to hang out with you, I do your my best friend max but I already hear enough about relationships with the rest of the party" Olive sighs

"maybe you'll understand when you are in a relationship" max replies Olive rolled her eyes in response

she hated when people told her that, like she couldn't see what a unhealthy and healthy relationship was without being in one?

"is that why you are always with will now?" max asks in a tone that Olive had never heard max use before especially to her

it took her a few seconds to realize...

"is max mayfield jealous?" Olive mocked

Olive watched as max's face went bright red making a bigger smirk on olives face she wasn't used to seeing max blush usually it was her

"well I mean your always with him now! It's like you don't have time for anyone else anymore" Olive just watched with a grin as she listened to max's flustered rambling

"stop looking at me like that!" Max yelled

"like what?" Olive replied

"I don't know how to explain it.. just stop doing it" max's gaze was back down on the ground

olive grinned feeling very confident all of a sudden liking how max was reacting to her

"okay pretty girl anything for you" olive says boldly as she grabs her magazine again

max was blinking repeatedly as she looked at olive her skin felt hot max was confused on where these feelings started coming from as she looked at olive ..

"do you wanna go stargazing?" Olive asked with a grin on her

of course olive and max went to the only spot they ever stargazed at.. it had turned into something just for olive and max which olive obviously loved

they laid on their backs as they looked at sparkling stars

a cool breeze was in the air it felt nice appose to the hot summer air Hawkins had been having

"max .. can I ask you something?" olive said suddenly olive felt like she needed to get it off her shoulders

"of course Liv" max replied

"earlier when you mentioned will.. did you think I liked him?" Olive asked as she looked over at max

"yeah .." max admits as Olive continues looking at her Olive bit her lip not knowing if she should say what she's thinking

"max .. I wouldn't .. I couldn't like will" Olive tried to say

"oh yeah because he is like family to you?" Max replies thinking she understands but she doesn't

"no max.." Olive shook her head taking a deep breath as max looked at her with a curious expression

"I like girls.. so I couldn't like will" Olive finally says she looks down at the ground not really knowing how this was going to blow over

"really?" max asks in shock

"yeah really" Olive replies as she looks over at max.. max turns to her laying on her side

"you know .. Olive I like girls too" max said as she looked up at olive making eye contact

olives jaw slacked out making max chuckle dryly "seriously?"

"yeah seriously.. I mean boys too obviously because I'm dating Lucas" she replies

"ew max boys are gross max" Olive grins

"I guess that's why I always liked girls better.."

Authors note- I hope you liked this chapter! It was just to add to the plot of season 3 more ... but Olive and Max are cute I love them
