                           ❀

Today is my first day at my new school so my mum put my hair up in two pigtails so my red hair rests on my shoulders. She says its getting longer and I hope one day I can have hair as long as Rapunzels. I'm wearing my favourite striped top, dungarees and the trainers I got for my birthday a few years ago. They pinch my toes slightly but I don't mind because they have rhinestones on and I love rhinestones, I wanna bedazzle everything I own. Im walking through the huge double doors of the school i'm going too with the principle by my side. Walking into the classroom with my head held high i see all of my class mates and potential friends, im so excited, I have always been good at making friends but as soon as I walk in it feels odd. Everyone is staring at me and sniggering and I feel uncomfortable straight away. They stare at me , my shoes and my clothes. I can feel their stares like daggers cutting into my skin and at this point I just want to run home or atleast somewhere that isn't this very room. I look at the floor, blocking out their judgemental faces. There is one boy sat at the back with a book, all alone. He looks up at me and gives me the biggest grin I have ever seen. I decide from that moment that I like him, all because he's the only person in this room has looked at me in a kind way. I decide to go sit with him, but as the principle walks away the bell rings for recess and everyone is surrounding me. A boy, apparently the same age as me, but is towering over me looks at me and then down at my feet

"whats your name?" he asks me intimidatingly.

I respond with "sofia" but it comes out as more of a squeak.

"well sofia, where did you get your shoes from? they look like they have come straight out of a dumpster" he rudely replies, a malicious grin forming on his face.

I had always loved my clothes and thought nothing of them but maybe now they are too babyish for middle school and my trainers, now filled with holes dont look as flashy as everyone else's. He reaches for my hair, pulls out my pig tails , throws my hair tie on the floor and smirks at me

" her hair looks like carrots , not even nice carrots, mouldy ones" he laughs obnoxiously and loudly and everyone else laughs at his lame insult.

I have always loved my hair so I shrug it off. No matter what they say, I was told my hair looked fierce and bold and I liked that because that's how I was raised to be. He pushes me to the ground and I immediately stand up, putting on a brave face

"How dare you push me! You are rude and obnoxious and I don't want to be your friend! I really couldn't come up with a reason why anyone else would be either!" I shout, proud of myself for a moment for using the word obnoxious and standing up to him.

He pushes me harder until the same boy as earlier, the one that was reading a book grabs his tshirt from the back. He is taller than him and I imagine how intimidating that must be for him.

"don't do that!" the nasty boy shouts and pushes him back harder.

I want to grab him and pull him away. He shouldn't get into trouble, its not his fight to fight. I grab his arm and shake off my look of amazement as i pull him away. Of course im not strong enough to pull him but he stops fighting anyway and the other boy on the floor runs off with his friends . half of the class gossip about how brave and bold he is and the other half gossip about him being a pure bully.

"whats your name?" I ask the reader boy timidly.

" noah and you're- sofia?"

"yup that's me" I smile awkwardly "thankyou by the way. You didn't have to do that. I'm sorry if you get in trouble"

" I think you did very well on your own. You didn't need my help, but I couldn't just stand there and watch him do that to you. I for one, love your hair" he says with a smile and I almost die because he has one of the nicest smiles i've ever seen.

"I love my hair too" I respond and he smiles at that.

After a whole half an hour of talking we run off together and walk home. It turns out that noah lives in the house behind me so I can see him through my window, his house is a lot nicer than mine. I decide that we must be best friends from this moment forward. He has invited me over for tea tomorrow. He said his mum makes the most delicious food and that she will love me, I really hope she does.
