Should I embrace my shadow or be afraid of it ?
This question keeps tracing circles round my brain
As I stare into my shadow's moves , agile , fluid
Following mine that are far from plain .
Trying to escape from it ?
I've done it for more than I can count ;
At the smallest beam of light , it would resist
Not letting go until its home , the darkness , came back to town .
One day , I found it quite coward
Of it to leave the second I took a step forward
In a random shadow or some space that the light had spared ,
So I asked it , curious and nonchalant : follow me in the dark , why haven't you dared ?
Its response took me by surprise and knocked me off of a step :
It's funny , but do you know why only in the light I crept ?
To show you that no matter the times you'll ignore your deep hidden side ,
In the light it won't make such a difference ,
But at some point , it'll overwhelm you and get you think nonsense
While in the middle of it all , you'll learn to embrace who you truly are .
From that day , I became friend with my shadow
Seeing what it had taught me
In accepting anger and sorrow
As a huge part of reality .
