There was a big fat robin
On our fence today.
I walked out to see him.
He didn't fly away.
I said to the robin,
"How are you doing my friend."
He looked me straight in the eye
Said "I don't mean to offend."
"I don't want to be bad.
But how do I comprehend
What you say is true.
Are you really my friend?"
To this I replied,
"You've eaten bugs and worms
From my yard since last spring.
Without any negative terms."
"You've taken innumerable baths
When I water the grass.
So, I would appreciate it
If you had a little class."
"My apologies", the robin said.
"I guess you really are one of my friends.
I enjoyed the worms and the baths.
Please let me make amends."
The robin continued, "I'm getting ready
To fly back to Mexico.
There's a pretty senorita there
That I have gotten to know."
"Her hair is as black as a raven.
Her eyes are blue like the sea.
Her skin brown like beach sand.
She is very good to me."
With that the robin exclaimed,
"Adiós mi amigo, see you next spring."
I shouted in reply, "Via con Dios"
As he took to the wing.

PoetryA friend of mine suggested that instead of organizing what I write chronologically that I do so by topic. This book contains short stories and poems written from the garden.
