Watching your heart monitor
Is the only thing keeping me alive
Even though I am dead inside.
Lifeless and pale,
I'm not sure how I am coping with this.
IV tubes plunged into our veins,
I wonder if you can feel the uncomfortable pain of them.
I made you a promise
And I intend to keep it.
But how much longer can I continue to promise the impossible?
Because the day you tried to take your life
Was the day I was too late to save you.
