Nikolas's POV

"Nu, mama. Wan' sweep, p'ease."

August's words are playing on a repeat in my head as I try to process what's happening. August's a... little?

Thinking about it now, I'm not very surprised. August's very timid and in need of extra attention. He's also slower when it comes to academics and he can't process a lot of information at once.

Really, everything about him should have pointed towards 'little' for me, I'm not sure why I haven't noticed it before.

Littles are a common thing nowadays among larger cities, there's been a sudden boost of their numbers recently. Davide and I talked about possibly adopting a little after we couldn't find any children we connected with but it turns out we didn't have any strong feelings towards the littles we looked at either.

I don't have a problem with August being a little, in fact, I actually find it quite adorable. If anything, his status makes me want to take care of him even more. I've always had an urge to protect him and I understand it now, I want to be his caregiver. I just hope Davide feels the same way.

"Augie have sweepy time, p'ease." I guess we found his little nickname; Augie is perfect. His sweet words left me speechless, I can't believe this precious boy trusts us to take care of him.

"Yeah, bambino. Go ahead and take a little nap." Davide spoke softer than I've ever heard his voice before. His tone held so much love, I was surprised I didn't start tearing up. He's already so good with little Augie and we just learned about this side of him. (Baby.)

Davide walked over to the desk and slowly approached August, bringing his large hand down to gently rub August's back.

"Are you alright, tesoro?" Davide asked me as soon as August's delicate breaths evened out and he was asleep again. He was standing next to me now, reaching out to loosely pull me into his comforting embrace. (Darling.)

"He called me 'mama'." I mumbled weakly in disbelief, not completely answering his question but too stunned to think any further.

"He did, and he was absolutely precious doing it." All I could do was nod against his firm chest. Davide took a few minutes to rub my back and let me calm down before bringing me back to our predicament.

"We shouldn't pull him out of his headspace because it'll stress his body and mind out more than he should have to deal with. Are you alright with taking him home for a few hours so we can take care of him?" He asked me.

"Yeah, that'd be good." I agreed quietly, keeping my voice to a whisper so I don't wake August. "I'm gonna go ask Mary across the hall to cover my classes before the bell rings. Can you pack mine and August's things?" I asked him as I slowly backed out of his strong hold and moved towards the door.

"Of course, amore." He said, quickly moving to start doing as I asked. (Love.)

After saying a small 'thank you', I quietly left my classroom and walked across the hall to the other ninth grade math teacher's, Mary. She's always been kind and covers my classes anytime I need her to as long as the classes coincide with her planning periods.
