Catching my breath

The rain pours in a frenzy,
my heart's broken like glass.
The sorrow is unbearable,
my ego crushed like grass.

The scenery is a beauty,
my love brought me flowers,
the surprise is stunning,
my confidence climbing towers.

My life's filled with random events
that are seemingly opposites.
Strangely, when I ponder,
everything apparently fits.

Each moment steals my breath,
and catches me unexpected.
I now know why I breathe heavy,
despite only running in my head.

A/N: I usually don't elaborate about what led to a poem, but in this case the context is cricket. It gives me palpitations like nothing ever has.
