dear jen,

this morning there were no cars at all driving on the street that i have to cross on my way to school, but the light was red, so instead of crossing like the teenage boy did and the woman on her phone did and the slightly shaky old man did and the two giggly middle schoolers did, i waited patiently in the rain until the light turned green, and somehow it felt quite good, just standing there and feeling my jacket get slightly wetter with each second, waiting until the traffic light gave me permission to cross.
