Letting Go
I guess it's time to apologize
for assuming I knew what was best
with short skirts and crop tops thinking
you'd love my skin over my mind and how
I sing in the car when no one is watching
love songs turn to I can't believe I almost gave
my sanity to you. You're no good for me. Defy
the odds like asthmatics smoking, hold the chain link fence
watch my hopes go flying by. You'll change or I'll change
or the world will construct a universe where you're not
self indulgent and joyful at the sight of heartbreak.
So I'm sorry. For assuming you would notice
my just curled hair and way I pick at my nail polish
radiating my want to wear your jacket, body drowning
in loose fitting material and head resting on your chest.
