That night there was to be a full moon; the day where werewolves became more wolf than human. My mate told me to stay out of the forest at all cost. To stay away from him.

Forest. Full moon. It's a coincidence. That's all.

I shut my book as Travis pulls into a driveway that slopes downward. The house is log cabin style. Three stories and a deck on each floor. He shuts off the ignition. "You know, Addy, you're a pretty cool girl. If you get tired of Hanna feel free to hunt me down."

I smile, trying not to blush. "Thanks for driving me." The funny thing is I feel like Travis is more of my friend now than Hanna. What am I doing? I can't be making friends right now. That's betraying Eliza.

Once I hop out of the car, I look around at the forest that surrounds the house.

I'll find you. I promise.

I turn around and find my suitcase propped up next to Travis, who's hands are in his pocket. "What Hunter said, he really meant it. Please don't go in the forest on the full moon."

Grabbing the handle of my suitcase, I ask, "What happens then?"

"Nothing you need to worry about." He walks up to the front door, and I follow.

Maybe there's a drum circle. Or maybe they make moonshine.

"Hi, Addy," Hanna says as soon as I walk in the door. "How was the drive? My brother wasn't too annoying?"

"It was good and no." I feel like I want to laugh but it doesn't come out.

"I'm glad. Let me show you your room." She takes my bag and guides me to the top floor, opening a door at the end of the hall up here. An iron bed with a green comforter is pressed against the wall underneath the window that overlooks the forest. She flicks the light on, but it doesn't look natural. Too bright in what should be a dark room. "My room's two doors down." She leans against the wall, looking uncomfortable. "So how really was my brother?"

"He was nice."

"So. . . what did you two talk about?"

"We talked about school, and, you know, werewolves."

"Werewolves? Man, Travis hasn't talked about them in a while. We kind of discouraged it. My parents aren't exactly partial to anything like that."

I raise an eyebrow.

"But really, you liked Travis?"

I sit down on the bed, sinking into the mattress and glancing quickly out the window. When I look back at her I say, "Yes."

She smiles mischievously. Oh dear. "It's just that I think you two would be cute together."

My cheeks burn. "Hanna!." I grab a pillow and press it to my face.

"It's just he hasn't had a girlfriend in years." She darts out of the room to avoid the pillow I toss at her.

From somewhere in the house I hear Travis yell, "Hanna!" Great, he knows Hanna wants to set me up with him, and now I'm trapped with him for two weeks.

I fall flat on the bed. If Eliza was here she would be rolling on the floor laughing.

The thought only makes my heart and head ache...

And fill with guilt.
