Mistake

(Y/N)

Tommy and I stared straight ahead. We were both quiet as the realization of our mistake set in.

"Well... This fucking sucks."

"Yeah."

He sighed, grabbing a rock and throwing it into the ocean. "I can't believe we didn't bring an axe. At least then we could build a boat."

"Maybe there's one left behind in the Logstedshire ruins?"

"I doubt it." He turned to me, desperation clear in his eyes. "How about your cabin?"

"Dream knows about it now. It's not safe."

"Dream was there earlier today. I'm sure he won't go back for a while. We can be in and out."

"I'm not even sure if I have a axe there. Besides, he's after you."

"C'mon, (Y/N). We'll be stuck here without a boat."

"I said no."

"Fine!" He threw his hands up in exasperation. Aster barked unhappily at this, startled by Tommy's sudden outburst. "Well, without a boat how are we going to get to L'Manburg?"

I opened my mouth to speak-

"And don't say we can swim."

I started blankly at him, "Really? Very funny, Tommy. I was going to say the Nether."

He blinked, picking at his finger nails as he thought. "I guess so. It's hot as hell, though. I doubt Aster will be too happy about it. Besides..." He glanced at me, "I don't think either of us have exactly good memories of going there."

I sighed, he has a point. I haven't seen much lava recently but being in the Nether might cause me a lot of distress. Besides, Tommy seems like he'd had some issues in the Nether as well. That being said, we need to leave this place before Dream finds us. "We really don't have a choice."

Tommy stepped towards me, talking my hands in his and offered me a smile. "If you're going to be fine then so will I. Besides, we have each other." Aster barked below us. "And Aster."

I grinned, "Yeah, that's true. So, where's the nearest portal?"

"Uh, probably the one that was at Logstedshire. Dream broke it, though."

"How broken is it?"

"He took out one of the block of obsidian."

"Shit."

"Yeah."

"Do we have anymore?"

"No. I know a cave where there was some but we'd need a pickaxe to get it."

"Do we need to use a pickaxe?"

He looked at me skeptically, "Yes? Who mines without a pickaxe?"

"Well, as long as we have something stronger than the obsidian we can mine it." I paused for a moment, "I think."

"Okay... and?"

"Well, I still have Techno's netherite sword."

"(Y/N), we cannot use a sword to mine obsidian."

"Have you tried?"

"No."

"Then it's worth a shot."

"Fine. We can try mining a obsidian block without a pickaxe," he mumbled, looking at me unamused.

"Awesome!" I hummed in thought, caves are dangerous. I don't really want to bring Aster down there... "Tommy, how long would it take to get to the obsidian?"

"Maybe... two hours max? Carrying it up would take longer, though."

"Less than a day though, right?"

"Probably. Why?"

I nodded to Aster, who was now chasing a crab around the beach. "I don't want to take Aster with us into the cave. It's too dangerous for a puppy." Sure, he's getting pretty big now but he's still a puppy to me.

"Fair enough, where would we leave him, though?"

"Uhh," I glanced around, the beach and plains are too out in the open. If Dream was anywhere near by he would spot us. "Do you know anywhere in the woods that Dream wouldn't go to?"

"Not really... Unless," he pointed towards the remains of Logstedshire. I used to have a... thing way over in that direction. Maybe we could use that area? It's behind the huge hill thing too."

"Okay. Sounds good enough right now." I called Aster over and grabbed Tommy's hand, "Let's go then."

He smiled, glancing down at our hands, "Okay, I'll lead the way."
