Chapter 6 : Nightmares and Baseball Problems

I was sprinting, sprinting through the airports hallways, running as fast as I could. I reached the section where my parents plane was stationed, and I ran right up to the window, I saw my parents plane pulling out, and I starting screaming, telling them to stop, and come back. I was still screaming when the plane started speeding down the run way, taking off into the air, out of my sight. I started crying, tears streaming down my face, making my vision blurry. I started running down the airports halls again, and I noticed that as I ran past random strangers, they were all dressed in black. From head to toe, everyone was wearing black, I felt like I was at a funeral. The weird thing was, was that every time I passed them, they would look up at me, with dark, black, hollow eyes. They bore into me, with no emotion, it made me try and sprint faster, but the quicker I started running, the farther away the doors got. I fell to my knees, crying and screaming for my parents to come back, I curled my knees into my chest, and just sat there crying to myself.

I felt someone shake me, and I jolted awake. I started crying, and there was sweat running down my forehead, my whole body was shaking, and I trembled in fear. Someone said

" Hey, Cleo, shh it's ok, it was only a bad dream, it's not real."

I looked up, and was actually quite surprised to see a concerned looking Colton, not a smirking jerk, who won't leave me alone. He sat down next to me on my bed, and said

" want to talk about it?"

" no th-thank you, I am f-fine now, you can go C-Colton, I am ok."

" Cleo, clearly you are not ok, while I was sleeping, I started hearing screaming, so it led me to your room, and I found you crying, and screaming in your sleep, do you seriously want me to believe that you are ok? Do you want me to stay in here with you until you fall back to sleep, or at least talk about it?"

I thought about his offer for a few seconds, and decided that I didn't want to be alone when I fell back asleep, so I said

" could you please stay with me until I go back to sleep, I don't want to be alone, I am scared."

He glanced at me a little while longer, before replying

" yes."

I pulled my covers back over my body, and I turned so I was facing Colton. I closed my eyes, and I didn't think I would be able to fall asleep after having that huge nightmare about my parents, but surprisingly I did.

I woke up, and looked at the alarm clock that was on the side of my bed, it was six-thirty. I stepped out of bed, and made my way to my closet, grabbing some running shorts, and a sports bra. I put everything on, and threw my hair up into a high ponytail. On the way out, I grabbed my iPod, earbuds, and made my way down the stairs. I love running in the morning, it makes me feel free, and it always gives me time to myself so I can think about things. I stepped out of the huge front door, and into the fresh, crisp morning air. It was not very cold, it had the perfect amount of chilly wind blowing around, I could tell it was going to be a beautiful day. I plugged my iPod in, and started my daily morning routine of running. I didn't exactly know where I was going, but I know I would be able to find my way back to the house. I was running down the sidewalk, when I felt a presence next to me. I turned my head to see Blake running right beside me, he smiled, and I pulled out one of my earbuds, he said

" Hey Cleo."

" Oh, hey Blake, I didn't know you ran."

" yea, I run almost every morning, but when I am in school, I only run on weekends."
