Crunch. The leaves sound beneath her feet as she runs through the woods. She flutters up, trying to fly with her broken wing. She glances behind, trying to spot the giant that found her. Humans, they're called, although there's nothing humane about them. She beats down with all her strength, pushing herself into the sky. She squeaks in pain, covering her mouth with her hands to keep herself quiet. She grabs a twig as her wings give out, her right wing breaking in half. she frantically scrambles up as she spots him.

"Orin! Help me!" she cries with an outstretched hand.

"Maurelle, why would I help you? You can't even fly anymore. Besides, you led the human that destroyed our kingdom. You died because the human used you to get to us. That was all your fault," Orin says, a smile laying on his golden face.

"What are you talking about Orin? The kingdom is fine, I'm alive. The human is behind me, we can still get rid of him!" Maurelle begs.

"I don't think you understand." Orin jumps down to the branch Maurelle is sitting on, and grabs her by her teal hair. "I'm going to kill you, and then use the human to destroy the kingdom," he sneers in her face. As he smiles Maurelle spots a red star in the center of his right pupil, the sign of a dark fairy.

"The star. Orin, how could you?"

"Oh please, I've been this way since we were little. Is it really that big of a shock? No matter, you won't live much longer anyway." Orin smiles crookedly as he finishes speaking. He lets go of her hair as he kicks her stomach, sending her backwards. She grabs the edge of the twig, trying to hold on. He steps on her hand, breaking her fragile fingers. "Goodbye, Maurelle."

She falls into the air, the giant just behind her. She lands on the ground, the wind knocked out of her. She opens her eyes in time to see the sole of the shoe come down on top of her.
