NAOMI
It started like this. I was just about to step inside the classroom when some random girl ran to me. "Watch where you're going!" she spat out as she hurried past me. Now normally i would'nt have let that kind of attitude pass except that i noticed that she was crying. Unfortunately, before i could do anything other than take note of it, she was already gone.
Inside the classroom, i saw Stephen holding court. As usual,he was surrounded by his group of fawning fangirls. I could hear them talking about the crying girl, saying that she should count herself lucky to experienced being Stephen's girlfriend instead of crying over the fact that it was over and making a scene. He told them to leave the poor girl be. That statement would have raised my estimation of him except that he followed it up with "...so who'd like to be my next girlfriend?"
I felt my hackles rise.
Disgusting!
Stephen cruz has been my classmate
since high school. He's always been a heartthrob and that fact alone has led me to have a very low opinion of most of my own sex. Why would any girl want to be with a guy whose longest relationship had lasted for only four days?
He and i have never really interacted, seeing as we ran in different circles socially. He's never really tried to put the moves on me before. Other than the fact that i have four older brothers who'd grind him to a pulp,he knows that I'm probably one of the few girls who won't take his crap. And I've seen the girls he usually goes for - really pretty ones who, in my opinion, can do a lot better than him.
As for me, i have waist length hair that i always keep up in ponytail. I like my school uniform a size or two too big. I don't wear high heels. I prefer my black chucks, thank you very much. I like to think of myself as a quirky intellectual, but I'm afraid that realistically speaking, i probably fall under the category of boyish nerd.
Most people are usually surprised to find out that i studied HRM. I guess i don't seem the type to be interested in hospitality management. The truth is, I'm not really in it for the long haul. I want to be a chef. Its expensive though. And my parents' pockets
aren't exactly lined with gold. I'll take it up when i have the money. I don't give up on my dreams.
So here I am, already nineteen years old and with no boyfriend in sight. Of course, having never had a boyfriend doesn't mean that i don't get crushes now and again. In fact, i have one right now. His name is Drew and he's taking up tourism. I met him when i went to cheer my best friend, Chrysler, as she tried out for the pep squad. He sat down next to me and it was love at first sight. He and Kryzel were friends, so Drew and i ended up hanging out a lot and developing our own friendship. He's gorgeous, and athletic (plays for the college basketball team), and a genuinely nice guy. If i were to have boyfriend, I'd want it to be someone like Drew and definitely not like Stephen Cruz.

After three hours of class, i went to the cafeteria to meet up with my beat friend. As usual, i found her surrounded by her admirers. I can understand why they like her so much. Kryzel is a member of the school's pep squad. She's smart, and pretty, and she's actually very nice - which us why I love her so much.
I caught her eye and raised my hand in greeting. She smiled and excused herself before joining me at our usual table. I couldn't help but tease her about the amount of attentions was getting.
She made a face at me. "It gets tiresome. It's not like i want teem to like me. It's difficult because some of them don't seem to understand the word no."
I couldn't help but laugh at her forlone tone. "Forget them. Let's go get something to eat!" I said. We fell in line an as usual, she chose something leafy and healthy, which i dubbed as "Bird Food," while i picked out something meaty and filling, which Kryzel called a "greasy ball of cancer waiting to happen."
As we eat, i saw Stephen approach us. He smiled at Kryzel and asked if she was enjoying her lunch. Kryzel smiled back and nodded. He nodded back.
Scintillating conversation all around! When he left, i frowned and commented that i had no idea he and Kryzel were on speaking terms. Kryzel shrugged and was very evasive about it. Something was up and i was getting a very bad feeling about it.
True enough, i was proven correct when, on our way home that day. Kryzel suddenly turned to me and confessed that she has a boyfriend.
Initially, i was ecstatic at the thought of my bestie finally finding someone to love. But then she told me the identity of her new boyfriend, and my happy bubble burst at the name.
"Stephen Cruz," she'd said.
Oh no! No! No! No! Anyone but him! "You're kidding me, right?"
"No! I'm serious!"
Insane more like it. I stared at her, at a loss. How to voice my disapproval without alienating my best friend? Se looked so happy.
"I believed he loves me, Naomi, and I love him too. Just please be friend and support my decision okay? I have to go. I'll see you at school,"
She left me there, staring after her
I couldn't. Believe it.
Stephen and Kryzel?
Damn.
