Anyone else notice quite how many queer, particularly trans, people are into cosplay?
I'm not sure if I'm just in some predominantly queer fandoms, but I watch a lot of cosplayers and so many have different pride flags hanging behind them in videos. I have a theory as to why it's so popular with us: 1. maybe it's just me but I have a lot of characters who I want to emulate and look like. 2. looking like my favorite characters helps with my body image and reduces dysphoria so dressing up as them boosts my own confidence. I will go out my way to look like a sleep-deprived thirty-year-old with a caffeine addiction who has never heard of showers. Why? Because looking like him makes me feel good.
Please let me know if this is just me.
