Chapter8

"We need to find something to plugour ears with." Leo started looking around frantically the momentGyllian disappeared into the water.

"For what possible reason? What thefuck is going on?" Altar was exasperated. Gyllian hadn'texplained anything, refused to tell them what she planning, withrepeated promises to do so when they got here, a lie clearly. Shejust hadn't wanted any of them to try and stop her.

"Gylly is going to have to compelElora, and by the time she gets her back here...she won't want togive her up." Leo sighed.

"She's can't possibly think she canswim fast enough to get them both back here from the palace?!They'll drown!" Jess exclaimed. He hadn't realized that wasexactly what Gyllian was planning.

"She's a water nymph. They'll befine." Finn stated. She could breathe underwater, and she musthave a way to make sure Elora could too, at least long enough to gether here or she wouldn't attempt this madness to begin with.

"No... She's not." Leo statedavoiding eye contact with all of them.

"What?!"

"She's a siren."

Jess and Altar's collective gaspsechoed Finn's.

"One who is going to have to compela beautiful woman into her arms, kiss her to keep her alive and pullher to the depths of this fountain. A siren that has been takingDragon's breath almost weekly to keep her human half in control. Asiren that has been starving herself for the last seven years to keepfrom hurting people. She might bring Elora here, but she won't giveher to us willingly once she does. She'll keep Elora compelled soshe can feed off of her until she drains her or until Elora freezesto death in the water, and she'll compel us to stay away while shedoes."

Altar let out a string of expletives.Sirens were vicious creatures, not well regarded. They lured loversinto their arms and dragged them into the depths filling their headswith beautiful visions as they made love to them, feeding off theirlust and desire until they froze or drown if the siren didn't suckthem dry first. Sometimes they let their prey know what washappening to them, but always too near the end for them to doanything about it, too deep to survive a swim to the surface in time,or too cold to try. A final surge of terror was as delicious to asiren as the lust and desire they fed off of. It's why they almostalways, even inadvertently, killed those they took, they were unableto stop themselves.

That's why it felt like he couldn'tbreathe when he kissed her, why she'd been digging her nails into herhands, she'd been feeding off of him and trying not to at the sametime, Gylly hadn't wanted to hurt him, was trying to keep fromcompelling him. He'd never met a siren that was half human but ifhe had to guess, it was probably similar to a succubus that was halfhuman, and they were all unable to separate any physical intimacy andfeeding. Succubae usually had pretty decent self-control, no sirenhe'd ever heard of did.

"Well it's a good thing then thatI cannot be compelled." Finn stated.

Elora was shaking in her arms. Thewater was too cold for her body to handle, she'd become hypothermicsoon. That was okay though, as far as Elora was aware, she was on abeach with a warm sun beating down on her skin, with Leo kissing her. Her mind would keep her body from suffering to severely... for awhile. Her lips were soft, and the feel of her arms around her neckwas intoxicating as Gyllian followed the koi. She wasn't quite surewhy she was following the fish, it had just seemed like a good ideaat the moment.
