Picture this,

An empty beach.

Filled -of course- with sandy shores,

Endless seas,

And your toes in the shallows.

The sun shine washes over you

Like showers of a mid-summer's rain

Under the starry nights of our youth.

Can you see it?

What about this?

You are standing beside you sister and your brother,

You see the face of your new cousin or son,

Brought into this world by chance but loved no matter what.

Your parents looking to their new grandson in a spell of bliss

With silence speaking all there is to be said.

You're surrounded with everlasting smiles and grins

That fades as soon as you wake from your slumber.

Senseless sorrow sweeps the happiness from your face as you wish for sleep.

It never comes.

You look outside your window.

You spot shifting sands and stretching desert oceans as you sit in sheets of your hospital cot and

weep.

Did you see it?
