Sapphire Eyes

I think that sometimes a single color can say more than a collection of words;

Like the color blue.

The color of the bruises you try to hide on your face,

Or like the saying that doesn't come close to what you are really feeling.

No one can imagine what it is like to spend a day in your shoes,

Where one smile hides one hundred tears.

But I can see you under the brim of your Superman cap.

Wishing you didn't have to go through the pain that you do.

You probably feel like the bird that fell from its nest

With feathers that flapped fruitlessly as you fell to the floor with a flop.

You should know, whether you believe it or not,

That blue is not just the color of sadness, but also of a breath of minty fresh air.

It is like the gleam of your sapphire eyes that are filled with promise and a hope for tomorrow.

When I think of blue...

I think not of the tears of your troubles but of that true smile I see every blue moon.
