Kiss the briars

By Dillon Collins

The false bravado of a liar, screaming for attention atop his lofty pire. Unknowingly throwing himself upon the waiting briars. Unable to remove the smallest of them, even with pliers.

He began climbing because it looked so easy, until he got stuck and got a little queasy. Heart knocking in his chest he resumed his ascent. To reach the windswept rock at the top was his intent.

Unwilling to go back, or to afraid, one of the two. It's impossible for him to jump down to you. You cry and scream and beg him to stop, he shudders a moment then pulls his legs over the top.

"Free at last!" He screams to the world, with his palms and the span of his arms unfurled. Laughing maniacally with the false bravado of liars, he tiptoes the edge, and kisses the briars.
