Evelyn rolled her eyes. "I'm going to have to turn down your proposal. Also, are you fucking crazy? I tried to kill you, and later you almost killed me. Why should we become friends?" The last word felt foreign on her tongue.

Helen sat down on the couch beside Evelyn, her face turned towards hers, shining brown eyes burning with quiet intensity. "Having friends never hurt anyone. And it seems like you're in need of one." Evelyn opened her mouth to say something, but Helen pressed a finger against her lips, as if she anticipated it.

Evelyn pulled away from her as quick as she could. "Maybe I also need a friend. Why don't you calm down, and stop being so insistent on being difficult, so we can be friends?" She rested her hand on Evelyn's shoulder, and the short-haired woman wish she would stop touching her. It wasn't that she hated it, but her face was turning an embarrassing shade of red. Evelyn squirmed a bit, but didn't remove the hand in fear that Helen would make some biting remark about her antisocial tendencies.

As Helen went on and on about how being friends would benefit them both, Evelyn became suddenly hyperaware of how warm Helen's hand was and how her own heart was pounding. She frowned a bit, confused as to what was happening. Eventually Helen let her hand come back into her lap, and Evelyn let out a sigh of relief. "Okay, how does this sound? I'm going to visit you three times a week, and if we're not friends after a month or so, I'm going to start coming around every day."

Evelyn couldn't help but smile faintly at this. "Well, sounds like I'm never going to experience peace and happiness ever again." The auburn-haired woman chuckled. "You're welcome." She glanced at a clock on the wall and winced. "Dang, I have to go pick up Violet and Dash from school now." A smile played on Helen's lips. "Guess you've been saved from having to deal with me, at least for today." She rose from her seat on the couch, ambling to the door. Helen took one step outside, and gave Evelyn a sideways glance and waved. "Until we meet again."

Evelyn shook her head. The super has proved herself to be more insufferable than she had initially thought. As she raised her a beer bottle to her lips, she couldn't help but wonder what the next month would be like.

Author's Note: Didn't expect so many people to read this story, but I'm grateful. Sorry for the length of this chapter, I don't think I'm capable of writing long chapters that are decent in terms of quality. So long chapters probably won't be a normal thing.
