Everything okay, Olan? You’ve been quiet lately.

CottonJones

@openadoor34 Thank you, Karen, for inquiring into my well-being. It is much appreciated to know someone is watching out for me. I am well. Just the normal fights with my chronic health problems that always plague me, and fights with insurance companies to help out more on one of my more outrageous medical costs. If you've missed any of my recently published poems here on Wattpad, you can scroll down in the conversations to catch up.

I'm working on Sonnet LIII, which will be published soon, and I'm working on a portrait at the same time. If you want me to read any of your work, I will tell you what I tell others; send me a link via private message, and I will drop by to read you.

Again, many thanks for checking in on this old man. Lpf.

@itshvma Thank you. If you want to know more about me, It'shvma, you can ask me or read about me in my autobiography, published here on Wattpad. It is titled "Memories of Olan L. Smith; a photo essay."  I'm always interested in young people wanting to learn more about poetry, and many of us crossover to become poets because of the classes we take in school or college. The latter choice of reading my short autobiography with photos will give a better "picture" of my life as a whole and the things I have gone through to become The Poet, Olan L. Smith. My childhood was a dream, but my adult life was a struggle. You are the sum of your experience.

@CottonJones That is really impressive Olan ! Your poetry teacher really did teach you how to paint with words, it is so fascinating to think about how we can create paintings in the reader's mind through the art of poetry. Wishing you all the best on your next portrait/poem !

@itshvma, I started drawing people at the age of 4 years old, and I did my first portrait in 1970. I always capture the likeness, and I don't stop until I do. It has become second nature, but I still need good vision to do portraits. Writing poetry I didn't begin until college. I told my poetry teacher I missed painting, because my tools, and they were 2000 miles away. So, she said, "I will teach you to paint with words."
