It is inspired by Comedy Central's cult hit TV show Strangers with Candy, starring Amy Sedaris as Jerri Blank, Paul Dinello as Geoffrey Jellineck and our american hero Stephen Colbert as Charles ''Chuck'' Noblet. The characters' names has been changed to avoid copying off their work. The show ran for three seasons from 1999-2000. You can watch all 30 episodes of the series on Hulu Plus.
