This anthology of poems is a tribute and analysis of one of the most colourful families of the 20th century; the Mitford family. Each poem is dedicated to and influenced by the Mitford siblings and their associates. Individually the poems are constructed with different orders and techniques to reflect the diversity of the individual characters, yet all share the themes of political extremities, personal journeys, love, conflict and significantly the relationships of one of history's most divided families. The Times journalist Ben McIntyre described them as "Diana the Fascist, Jessica the Communist, Unity the Hitler-lover, Nancy the novelist, Deborah the Duchess and Pamela the unobtrusive, poultry connoisseur". "The Mitford girls! The Mitford girls! I love them for their sins." John Betjamin
