The tectonic movement of the Earth's magma core created a fissure that split the Earth in two. We call the split 'The Chaff'. The Chaff pulled the moon out of orbit and into the fissure. From inside the moon, these space roaches we named 'Moonlings' crawled out. These Moonlings were eight feet tall, twelve feet wide and were not friendly. They were deadly. Are. They are deadly.
On a desperate last ditch effort, Commander Korey sent his best men to escort our brightest scientists to scavenge as much as they could from the moon's crust and interior to study it.
The move turned out to be a brilliant one, as our scientists discovered a strange strand of genetic code in the moon. It seems to have been a living being this entire time. The Moonlings were perhaps parasites feeding off of it. We discovered that this genetic code could be entwined with our own DNA, and the Commander's last dying act was to approve human experimentation.
And so, the Subject Volunteer Program begin.
