Ophelia Jameson has had it rough. Being born eighth in line, the half-Japanese child of a hooker in Manila, then adopted out to a Military couple and brought to the United States just before the start of the second world war, just when the Asians of America are gathered up and placed in 'internment camps', then finding out he was Queer, publicly; punch after punch has knocked him down, again and again, but he survived it all.
Finding peace in Japan, of all places, he works as a businessman who grows a large, very profitable metallurgical company from nothing, creating metals and using them to make amazingly sharp knives and traditional swords, as well as clockwork parts that don't rust or break easily; with this as his calling in life, he lives out his days with his wonderful wife and a veritable army of adopted queer children from America or Germany who just needed loving homes.
He is very old, now, and happy with his lot. Still, it's quite unexpected to be walking home from visiting your wife's grave, and instead step into a room full of weird cultists.
