"What kind of favor?" You asked, leaning against the cool wall.

"It's Fury, you were right. He came to my hotel room, said some stuff about Mysterio. I know you and I haven't talked in a while, but you're the only one I trust—"

"Whatever you need, Peter. We aren't enemies."

He looked at you with those big pure eyes and you couldn't help but feel a tug in your whole body towards him.

He gave a quick sigh of relief. "Thank you...really."

You nodded and waited for him to tell you his peculiar, top-secret task.

"Fury wouldn't give me any details, really, but he wants to keep you out of it all...you know, for Mr. Stark's sake—but I need you to cover for me. If I go missing, I got lost, okay? And if they try to call Aunt May you tell them I wasn't feeling well and I'll meet up with them soon, promise? If any of this gets out, I could get in big trouble, and people could get hurt—"

"I'll cover for you, but...Pete..r," you quickly corrected yourself, "this seems really dangerous—"

"There's no one else who can help, I—I wish things were different, y/n. I really do, but...they aren't. And if I hadn't ignored Fury the first time, I could've stopped that monster earlier..."

He sighed, and you placed a hand on his shoulder slowly, waiting for him to back away. You hadn't even meant to touch him; it had happened so suddenly. But now that his warmth was spreading to you, you almost couldn't bear to let go.

"If things get bad, can you promise to call me? I couldn't...if you..."

"I know," he nodded, and you removed your hand. "I'll do my best, I mean...I have to, right?"

"Just help Fury with whatever he needs, and then...well, you can enjoy the rest of our vacation, yeah?"

He nodded, and you both returned to the main group. It was shitty advice, but it was the best you had. Fury was more demanding and true to his word than your father, and if you tried to interrupt and be the hero with him, things could go seriously wrong.

"Hey, everything okay? I saw you talking to Peter," said Sam.

"Yeah, he just wanted to clear some things up, but...we're good, thanks."

You chatted some more with her until the boat to take you back to the hotel arrived, and you let the quiet waves and cool night clear your mind.

"So, change of plans!" Announced Mr. Dell, waving a big stack of papers around. "We're going to Prague!"

"Prague?" you said quietly to yourself, thinking of what Peter had said. You wished he would've told you more, even against Fury's orders. Being out of the loop was new to you, and it was making you anxious.

You found Peter in the group, his eyes wide like he had just figured out something terrible. You wanted to know more, but you knew Peter probably didn't want to talk to you.

"I don't care where we go, as long as we don't run into anymore monsters," said Sam, and you gave her the best smile you could muster.

"Y/n?" you heard, and you turned around. Peter had moved quickly in those few seconds, and now he was beside you. "I need to talk to you again."

Sam gave you both a questioning look but let you go anyways. You followed Peter to a safe few yards away where no one could hear what he was saying.

"I think the next threat is in Prague, whatever it is. Fury already told me he'd be 'working his magic' on the tour...God, why did he have to—and how my friends are involved—"

You shook your head, unsure of how to respond. You were equally as pissed at Fury as Peter was, and now you were worried about what was to come.

"Hey! You two, come on, we're boarding the bus," said Mr. Dell, casing you to both look up. You gave him a hopeful look and he walked alongside you to the bus.

The bus driver gave you both a silent, intense look and you creeped closer to Peter as you followed him down the isle.

Sam was sitting in the very back in an empty row. Peter sat down across from  her, and you sat in the seat directly next to her.

He looked nervous, but you weren't sure what to say. Fury had wanted you out of this, and as much as you didn't think it was a good idea, it was probably best to agree with him.

Peter shuffled around in his bag searching for something while Sam showed you a video on her phone. It was a complication of 'Spider-Man Fails,' AKA Peter Parker accidentally falling while trying to help a citizen or knocking over merchandise while chasing a perp.

You looked over at him as Sam laughed, silently making fun of him. It wasn't meant to be mean, and you saw it in a joking manner.

He was reading a tiny slip of paper while holding a small box. It was hard to read from so far away, and Sam had caught you staring, so you had to look away.

"I wish we would've been able to see Paris," she sighed, looking out the window. But I've heard Prague is nice too, and we're still hopefully going to see that opera."

"Great," you laughed, looking down at your phone.

"For the next Tony Stark, I trust you," you heard, causing you to look up. Sam had her earbuds in, oblivious to the bombshell Peter had just dropped next to you.

You looked over and you felt like you'd been punched in the chest. Peter was wearing a pair of glasses just like your father had always worn; those big, goofy bulletproof glasses that had saved his ass more than once.

"You look like my dad," you half whispered, mouth slightly open in amazement. You suddenly missed him, and having heard what Peter said, it made you worry.

"Fury must've g-given me these, I..." he started, his face turning red. "Your dad must've had these in case he..."

"You don't think he's really...?" you said, your voice catching in your throat.

"No, no! I'm s-sure he's fine, your mom would've called you by now...Fury said things were getting bad, and maybe this was all he knew to do—"

You sat back in your chair, nodding silently.

"Y/n," said Peter, but you couldn't bear to look at him anymore. He looked so much like Tony it hurt. Peter was part of your life, he always would be. And seeing him with that same look Tony always wore, you saw the same clever brain they shared, the same care for those they loved. You couldn't look at him while you thought he hated you.

"Y/n."

You looked at him, tears brimming in your eyes. "He made those in case he...died, you know," you said, biting your lip to keep yourself from crying. "I found the software in his files."

Peter looked down at the paper again, reading the last portion at the bottom.

E.D.I.T.H.— Even dead, I'm the hero. P.S, say Edith. ~T.S.

"It's got control to all his weaponry, defense systems, everything. I would be careful with those."

Peter nodded quickly. "You want to try them on?"

"Not the best idea," you said, a smile creeping onto your lips. "Might blow me up if it doesn't recognize me."

"Why wouldn't it?" he smiled, eager to keep you smiling. He didn't want you to worry about Tony, even if he was worried out of his mind about him too.

"Tony made those for you. He always did want you—" You shook your head and opened your phone, hiding a smile, "I've said too much."

Peter gave you a confused look, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Well now you have to tell me!"

"He always wanted you to take over after he...retired," you said, saying the last part slowly.

"But I'm just—" he lowered his voice to a whisper. "I'm just Spider-Man, I'm no Tony Stark—"

"Students! We're taking a quick break in a few minutes! No more than ten minutes in the bathroom, or we leave you. Just kidding! We can't do that, legally speaking," said Mr. Harrington, and you shook your head.

"Edith," you said, and Peter's eyes went even wider. You knew exactly what he was seeing, those glasses were basically a computer containing the controls for every working Tony Stark invention.

"Whoa, this is so cool," said Peter, and you sent him a quick smile. "When we get back I am so going to hug Mr. Stark."

Your face fell from a quick smile to a worried frown, and Peter noticed.

"He'll pull through, y/n. He always does."

You half-smiled, looking up from your phone. "Just like you."

His eyes fluttered in confusion until he realized what you had meant. He fell back into his seat, sitting and staring straight ahead.
