There is an anchor tied to my ankle
It weighs me down and hold me in the deep
My fingers prune and my skin turns soggy
Air bubbles are my only friends but they so quickly leave me
Even they don't want to stay down here with me
I've grown up in this watery darkness
I never thought I would reach the surface but I did
I swam to a island
And let the sun dry my dripping skin
I let it burn me till I couldn't be touched
Soaking up all the peace in this paradise
My eyes were closed too much to notice dark clouds brewing
I awakened to rain and lighting
The water raised and my toes couldn't touch the ground
So I tried to float
I tried to swim
My anchor was gone right ?
Or so I thought
Little did I know the chain was just lengthened
Oh the treachery !
My heart sank just like my body
The realization of never being free
My hands tried to grab air bubbles for a way up
But sadly my weight is too much
So I sink
And I look up
I look up to the freedom that ill never have
I'll never breathe
