meanwhile, karl had just got to his parents house. he was slightly shaking, scared as to how it could go with danielle. sure that it wouldn't go well.
he recognized her car in the drive way, but as much as he didn't want to go, he forced himself to.
when walking in he was greeted by his dad and older brother who were in the living room setting up festive decorations. he heard faint conversation coming from the kitchen, he walks in and sees his mom and danielle happily chatting.
"oh! karl!" his mom smiled, embracing him into a tight hug. "i missed you!"
karl grinned hugging back, "i missed you too mom."
when letting go, he awakrdlu waved at danielle.
"hey, karl don't be rude. hug her!"
his eyes widened a bit, danielle smiled, "why so tense?" she pulled him into a hug, he somewhat hugged back just so that his mom wouldn't say anything.
he just didn't respond to danielle, "uhm so are we setting up the christmas tree or?"
his mom nodded, "mhm. go help take the ornaments and stuff out of the garage."
karl nodded, before he walked out of the kitchen his mom said, "actually why don't you and danielle go to the store for me? i need some more nutmeg and such."
"yeah sure mom." he responded grabbing his car keys, to which danielle follows behind.
the two made their way into his car.
"nice ride." she commented breaking the silence.

"thanks." he peeped out, the faint sound of the radio playing became louder as they became quiet.
"listen i don't know why you're so upset with me, but please don't make it a big deal that i'm here." she begged innocently.
karl chuckled out of disbelief, "we literally broke up two years ago danielle. TWO. and you still come around for family events. you're not family."
danielle stared straight towards the road, "your mom was the one who invited me."
"doesnt give you the right to say yes. kindly deny. but we all know you have a trouble doing such a thing." he snapped.

she scoffed, "i wonder why she didn't invite that alexis girl. maybe your mom just prefers me."
"surely not. she doesn't know of alexis yet."
"and why is that karl?" she asked, glancing over at him, "i know you. you would've introduced her by now. just give it up man, and admit that i'm just too good to top."
he simply shook his head, his phone went off with a notification. danielle glances over and sees his lockscreen, "it's funny because you're so into her that she's you're lockscreen but you didn't have the guts to bring her for the holidays.."
karl remained silent, he didn't want to bother dealing with danielle. just don't let her get to you too much, he recalled aj saying, and so he simply ignored danielle until they had gotten back
hours later, aj had finally arrived in france. she'd forgotten how utterly rude people could be until they find out you're from there.
but she waited outside the airport until she saw her familiar parents car pull up. alexis smiled as they got out of the car to greet her.
she hugged her mom, then jumped into her dads arms. "hey! i saw you've been growing on that twitch
site! you're doing so good, mi amor!" (my love)
aj pulls away with a smile, "thanks pa."
she heard her mother groan, "well cmon now."
mr james helped put alexis' things into the car and made their way to their house. of course there was talk about what was going on and many other things.
"we have a surprise for you!" her mother grinned, her thick accent strong when speaking english. "but it's not coming til tomorrow."
mr james nods, "yeah i don't really like it. but your ma does so.."
alexis was confused as to what it could've been. a dog? no. aj had never mentioned wanting a pet. but whatever it was, she didn't think much of it. merely responding, "oh, très bien." (very well, alright)
they had eventually arrived at their beautiful home the james' had. one that was maybe a bit too big because it's only the three. well two seeing as aj resides mostly in new york.
alexis sighed at the familiar sight, oh much she missed simpler times.
but she had unpacked and texted karl she was home already. when checking the time she was it was 6am, but she wasn't tired whatsoever.
