Sumit was studying Pathology in which he was very pathetic, when he noticed that Rohit was silent.
Su- Rohit??
R- Uh??
Su- What happened? Why are you so silent?
R- I was just thinking about Karan...how could he do this to her?? Even I know that she has feelings for him but why can't that idiot get it?? Is he that thick brained?? She must be very hurt yaar.. I hope she atleast talks to Raima about this.. about her feelings....I feel so sorry for her...
Sumit was listening to him with a light smile playing on his face.
R- What?? Why are you smiling like that?
Sumit shook his head and said,
Su- You love her don't you??
R- What?? no??
He blurted out, too soon to be the truth.
Su- Rohit!! Are you really that stupid?? Or are you just testing my patience?
R- You stop testing my patience my Sumit!! All the time you're just stuck over the same topic.
Su- Because you're lying to yourself and others Rohit!! It's very clear that..
R- Sumit please I'm talking about Karan, and you're changing the topic.
Su- I'm not changing the topic Rohit, infact I'm steering it in the right direction.
R- I don't love her....Got it??
Sumit was about to say something, when an idea struck his mind.
Su- Oh so you don't love her..... right??
R- Ya
Su- Are you sure?
R- I AM.
Su- Ok
Rohit looked at him suspiciously.
R- Ok?? That's it??
Su- Yeah, even if you're not..you will eventually.
R- I will not.
Su- You will.
R- Will not.
Su- Ok then, let's have a challenge shall we?
R- What challenge?
Su- I challenge that you will fall in love with Sona..... before this assingment ends.
R- What??? no ways Sumit.
Su- Alright then accept the challenge.
R- No I won't.
Su- Why not (in a taunting manner) is Mr.Sippy scared?
R- Shut up, I'm not.
Su- Then accept it.
Rohit looked here and there.
R- Fine, I accept.
Su- That you're in love?
R- NO..That I will fall in love with..
Sumit raised his eyebrows.
R-(stammering) Ahh....I...I...mean that... I will not fall in love with her.
Su- Ok, so the who loses the challenge....has to do whatever the winner says.
Rohit was a tad bit tensed.
Su- Are you having second thoughts Rohit?
R- No!! I'm sure I will win this challenge.
Su- Alright then, may the best man win.
R- May the best man win.
Su- Good night Mr.Sippy
R-(with a grumpy face) Good night Mr.Khanna.
Sumit laid down on his bed struggling to control his laughter.
The next day
As usual after their classes, they were in the canteen. But Raima and Sona seemed a bit off.
Su- Raima.
R- Ah Sumit!
S- What happened? Are you not feeling well?
R- No I'm fine.
Su- Then why are you not talking? I've never seen you so quite!!
Ra- Yeah! And even Sonakshi are you both alright?
Ra- We are guys. There's nothing to worry about.
Su- I'm sure there's something, or else why...
S- Nothing happened Sumit. We're fine you don't...
She stopped talking when she saw Karan entering the canteen. Rohit noticed this. Sonakshi ignored him and started eating. He eyed her to come aside and when she didn't he pulled her hand and dragged her a little far from them. Seeing this Rohit and Raima both tried to get up, but Sonakshi gestured them with her hands that she got this.
S- Leave.My.Hand.
And she wiggled her hand out.
K- Sona.
S- SONAKSHI..
K- What?
S- It's Sonakshi for you.
Karan rolled his eyes.
K- Fine Sonakshi, why are you not talking to me?
S- Do you seriously expect me to talk to you...even after what you did?? SERIOUSLY??
K- I told you I didn't do it intentionally.
S- Karan please, I don't want to talk to you anymore.
K- Sonakshi..
S- Karan, I don't even want to see your face anymore. Got it? Go and get intimate with Jeni or whoever you want.
And she walked away.
Meanwhile in the table
R- What exactly is wrong with this Karan? Why does he always disturbs her?
Ra- Don't get me started Rohit.. That bastard tried to..
Rohit and Sumit looked at her questioningly.
R- He tried to...
Ra- Nothing
R- Raima..tell the truth.
Su- Raima is something bothering you? Please tell us..
Raima kept mum. Rohit signalled Sumit.
Su- Raima, you know you can share anything with us.
R- Or I'll go, if you want to tell it to him alone.
Ra- No Rohit, nothing like that.
R- Then?
She took a long breath and told everything to them, which Sonakshi told her last night. Sumit was shocked to hear this while Rohit's blood boiled and he clenched his hand in a fist. He got up from the table and saw that Sonakshi had moved away, but he didn't let her. He walked up to them and held Sonakshi's hand and led her somewhere.
K- Oh hero! Where are you dragging her?
He paid no attention to him.
S- Rohit, where are you...
R- Shhh...do you trust me?
S- What?
K- No she doesn't, Sona come with.
R- I ASKED HER, KARAN NOT YOU.(looking at Sonakshi) do you trust me or not?
His eyes held a lot of emotions.
S- I......I do.....but... Rohit...
K- Sona why are you...
R- Shut up Karan.
And he continued, while Karan was following them. He finally led her to the break room,where it all started. Sonakshi was startled for a moment and then looked at Rohit questioningly, but he was watching the entrance as if waiting for someone, by the time Karan came, Sumit and Raima were also there, wondering what this guy was upto.
K- Oh hero! Why have you brought her here alone?
Rohit looked at him sharply but didn't say anything.
S- Rohit what's all this? Why have you....
Rohit went near her, held her hand and looked at her, Sonakshi wasn't able to decipher the emotion in his eyes.
R- This is where.....right??
S- What?
R- This is where he tried to....(he closed his eyes)
Sonakshi widened her eyes and saw Raima who nodded.
R- Tell me, Sona...Am I right?
Her voice cracked.
S- Y.....Yes...
Rohit left her hand and walked up to Karan,
R-(in a very calm tone) Why Karan?
K- Huh??
R- Why did you do that?
K- See I thought that she liked me, that's why..
R- You thought? You never just think Karan....you have to be sure whether a girl likes or...
K- That's none of business ok, now just move..
Karan started to move, but Rohit stopped him,
R- I'm talking to you Karan.
K- And I don't want to..so just
*SLAP*
K- How dare you
*SLAP*
R- How dare me??(hitting him) How dare you?? How dare you touch Sona?
S- Rohit!
Sumit tried stopping them, but of no avail. Raima was glued to the spot not knowing what to do. Sonakshi pulled him along with her and while doing so both of them fell down on the floor with Sonakshi on top of Rohit, her hand was behind his head to protect it. They both shared an eyelock, which was broken by Sonakshi, and they stood up. Karan who now had a swollen jaw looked furiously at Rohit and lunged towards him, but was stopped by Sumit.
Su- Get out this minute Karan.
K- I'm definitely going to report this to the principal.
S- Then I will report too.
All of them looked at her.
S- Why is everyone so shocked? I said if you report then I too will report everything you did just day before yesterday right here in this break room Karan. So if you're going to report him then I will also report that you tried to harras me and say that Rohit was trying to save me, even after this if they decide to take action, Rohit will only be suspended for a few weeks, but you Mr.Karan. The stakes are high that you might actually get expelled from the college. So think very wisely before you take a decision. Got it?
Karan was stunned as he had never seen this side of Sonakshi. Rohit absolutely admired this side of her. He went near Karan and said,
R- Karan, today you've escaped. From now on don't even go near a girl without her permission.....and as far as the Sona is concerned,you should not even touch her shadow, if I come to know that you're still troubling her....(correcting Karan's collar) I'll make sure that your jaw is broken especially by me. Understand?
Karan looked here and there and walked away in fury. All the three of them looked at Rohit in shock.
Ra- Shall we go?
S- Yeah sure
And they made their way out.
Sumit came near Rohit and said,
Su- I'm very happy.
R- Yeah me too.
Su- No, not about this.
Rohit looked at him questioningly.
Su- No, I meant that I'm pretty much sure I'm going to win the challenge.
Rohit stopped in his tracks. He fumbled for words to speak.
R- Are....are you serious Sumit? I would've done it even if it was not Sona.
Su- Of course you would've done it!! But not the last threat thought!
R- Sumit...I am not in love with Sonakshi....
Su- Sure thing buddy.
He said with a thumps up....which he turned to a thumps down with blowing raspberry the next minute.
