Feathers: A Book of Poetry

Raindrop

Different sizes
yet unmeasurably invariable
the same mold
yet irregular.

You look once
they're all the same,
clear
and bland
and forgotten
as soon as you turn
your head.

Look closer,
you see
the billions of lights.

Some
conjoin
with another
and become
bigger,
stronger,
more noticeable.

Others...
just get a faster fall.

Some
are lucky enough
to be
an individual
distinguishable
on the vast surface.

Some
just plummet from the sky
to drop into water
and get lost in similarity.

No one cares
where they
wanted to go
since
there are millions
billions
just
the
same.

But that's ok.

You're not a raindrop.

You're a lot
more.
