Day 4 of CountDown to Christmas
"Mummy, Papa, Mummy, Papa, wake up," You heard a small voice say next to you. Hoping it was just your imagination you kept your eyes closed hoping to go back to sleep. Julian wasn't awake either so it had to be your imagination. You then heard a small sigh and some soft footsteps walk away. All of a sudden you felt a big weight fall on you before you felt the bed move up and down slightly indicating that somebody was jumping on the bed. So your son was definitely up and ready to start the day. You and Julian were definitely not ready to start the day missing the lie-ins that you used to get before your son was born. No matter how much you love him you do wish for at least one lie-in and for him not to get up at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. Reluctantly you opened your eyes having to blink a couple of times to get used to the light that was coming through the door from where Jaydyn opened it. You made sure to keep your eyes away from him so he thinks that you're still asleep.
"Bärchen go back to bed," You heard Julian grumble out. You heard a gasp come from your son clearly pleased to hear that his papa was awake. Jaydyn stopped jumping on the bed and was silent for a couple of seconds and didn't move. You wanted to open your eyes and see what he was doing but then he would also see that you were awake so you kept your eyes closed and waited for him to move.
"Huh, Papa you're awake. GET UP! Mummy, mummy, mummy," Jaydyn started screaming wanting you to obviously wake up as well. One parent awake wasn't enough; he needed both of you awake. You lifted your head to see your son now kneeling on the bed leaning over Julain who was tiredly blinking wanting to go back to sleep. As soon as Jaydyn saw you looking at him a bright smile overtook his face causing you to smile back. He was happy that he had woken the two of you up. Turning your head to the bedside table you looked at the time and it has half seven. Later than you originally thought. You pulled down the duvet a little bit and Jaydyn made his way under them just lying there cuddling into the two. It wouldn't last long but would be nice whilst it lasts. It was peaceful for a little while until Jaydyn started wiggling wanting to get out. You knew that he had enough and wanted to go and play with something but neither you nor Julian wanted to move but Jaydyn couldn't stay still so at least one of you had to move. Without talking, you and Julian made a mutual agreement that he would go and make Jaydyn breakfast and then get him dressed whilst you get ready first and get Jaydyn's clothes out. It's the way it's always worked on Julian's day off so Jaydyn could spend more time with Julian because usually, Julian is busy or away for football so Jaydyn's with you most of the time. Any time Jaydyn can spend with Julian they both take even if it's just getting him dressed or bathing him.
Julian got out of bed and Jaydyn rolled over to Julain and put his arm out wanting to be carried downstairs. Julian knew that he was old enough to walk but it felt nice to pick him up and carry him sometimes. Soon he would be too big so it was nice to occasionally do it whilst he still could. Placing him down at the bottom of the stair Jaydyn instantly ran off towards his toys whilst Julian made his way to the kitchen to make Jaydyn breakfast and some milk and also make breakfast for himself and get out what he knew you would want. He looked through the cupboard before deciding to ask Jaydyn not wanting a tantrum this early in the morning.
"What do you want for breakfast Bärchen?" Julian asked him. Jaydyn stopped running around to think about it. It was a very important decision for a two-year-old. One of the most important decisions he will make.
"Chocolate cereal please," Jaydyn replied. Julian nodded and began making breakfast for both him and Jaydyn whilst Jaydyn ran around playing with toys.
"Snow papa, snow," Jaydyn said shouting. Julian's head snapped up as those words got said and he ran towards the window where Jaydyn was looking. There was snow all over the floor covering it all and it looked relatively thick as well. It was still falling as well making it difficult to see past a certain point but it still looked pretty. It looked perfect outside especially since hardly anyone had stepped out in the snow so it was all flat with no footsteps or anything.
"How about we have our breakfast and then get dressed to go out bärchen?" Julian said, pulling himself away from the window to make the breakfast. The quicker that it's done the quicker they can go out and play in the snow. Jaydyn looked at Julian wanting to go out now but Julian stood his ground and Jaydyn gave in and went to play with his toys. By the time Jaydyn finishes his breakfast, it will be later as well and a somewhat normal time to be outside playing. Julian quickly shouted up to you about the snow and how Jaydyn wanted to go out in it so you could sort everything out. So whilst Julian sorted out your son who was probably bouncing around begging to go outside and play in the snow you got dressed into clothes suitable for snow and got out Jaydyn's stuff and laid it down on his bed so it was easy for him to get on.
Jaydyn ate breakfast as fast as his little body would let him and then had a banana which was cut up after it meaning Jaydyn was taking longer since he had more to eat. He liked to talk whilst eating and talk to his cereal meaning it takes him ages to actually finish eating. Julian also ate his breakfast at this time and went through his phone replying to messages and e-mails starting with important ones. He doesn't want to be on his phone during the day so now is the perfect chance. Everything was done when Jaydyn finished his banana wanting to get down so Julain grabbed Jaydyn's stuff placing it in the kitchen before going back to him. Julian picked Jaydyn up and carried him upstairs getting the two of them ready for the day. Whilst all of this was happening you made your way back downstairs trusting Julian to get Jaydyn ready in the clothes that you set out and make sure he brushes his teeth. You did all of the washing up and ate your own breakfast just waiting not knowing how long they would be.
"Snow now papa," Jaydyn said. Julian nodded and held his hand as they made their way down the stairs where you were waiting. You were scrolling through your phone but as soon as you saw them you stood up and placed your phone in your pocket before walking over to them. Julian passed you Jaydyn, who you placed him on the floor and took his hand instead, as he got on his shoes and then the three of you made your way to the back garden. Jaydyn instantly started running around.
"What do you want to do first?" You asked Jaydyn who was currently bending down but wouldn't touch it. He looked somewhat scared of it. He's obviously seen snow on TV but you're pretty sure that this is the first that it's ever snowed in his lifetime.
"Olaf," Jaydyn said. You had watched Frozen the other day so now every snowman is called Olaf.
"Cmon then let's build a snowman," You said, bending over to start the snowman. Once Jaydyn saw you and Julian pick up the snow with your hands he began putting them down so he could feel the snow between his fingers. Slowly he enjoyed the feeling of the snow in his hands and would rub them together with the snow. He was complaining that it was cold though so you went and grabbed him some gloves so he could continue playing with it. You have no idea why you didn't give them to him earlier but he's got them now.
The three of you built a decent snowman and when you say the three of you, you mean you and Julian. Jaydyn was too fascinated by the snow moving it through his hands and eating some of it. He even put some of it in his pockets to 'save it for later'. You didn't bother telling him that it would melt into water he would soon learn and he would do it anyway even if you told him. It wasn't the best snowman that you've ever seen but it was still a snowman and clearly a snowman even if Julian tried to add extra bits to it. Jaydyn even got a scarf, hat and carrot to put on the snowman. You were quite proud of it.
"Snowball fight," Julian said, picking up some snow to throw it at you, not even giving you a chance to move out of the way. When it hit you Jaydyn burst into a fit of giggles as you pretended to get hurt from it. He then proceeded to pick some snow up and attempt to run towards Julian who walked away pretending to be scared but moved slow enough so Jaydyn could eventually get him. The laughter that came from Jaydyn when he finally got Julian made you laugh along with him. He has such a contagious laugh. You and Julian continued to have a snowball fight making sure not to hit Jaydyn but still involving him. Jaydyn couldn't stop his giggles every single time you and Julian pretended to get hurt and fall down into the snow when the snowball hit you. Occasionally you and Julian would get a little bit of snow and 'throw' it at Jaydyn making him fall over and laugh even harder. You kind of wondered if he was breathing at times because of how hard he was laughing. Luckily he was and still managed to get snow on you.
Julian didn't watch where Jaydyn was and threw a snowball at you. Jaydyn walked in front of it and it hit him in the face. The horror on Julian's face when it happened would've been funny in any other situation. Neither you nor Julian moved towards Jaydyn and continued to play with the snow wanting to see if he would just shake it off and continue playing. Every time he falls over you and Julian never make a big deal about it no matter how bad the fall is because that makes them cry. You continued to pretend to do what you were doing before whilst watching him out of the corner of your eye. Apparently, the shock was too much though and Jaydyn started crying and plonked himself down onto the snow. The wetness of it quickly seeping through his trousers. You made you way over to him and picked him up and he cuddled into you instantly, tears still falling. Not wanting to sit down on the snow to comfort him you made your way back inside towards the living room. You passed him to Julian and got him out of his snow stuff and into a warm onesie to warm him up a little bit. His cheeks were rosy from the coldness outside and from crying, it was clearer with his pale skin and blond hair, and he felt cold, freezing nearly, so it probably was the best time to come in. Neither of you moved after that or said a word for a bit waiting for Jaydyn to calm down and stop crying. Your hand was on his back rubbing up and down knowing that's the best way to calm him down and eventually he did.
"Are you okay?" Julian asked once the tears had slowed down massively. Your hand was still moving in a comforting manner. Jaydyn nodded his head and sniffed and wiped his nose on Julian's top because it was the closest thing to him. Julian rolled his eyes but still leaned down to kiss Jaydyn on the forehead used to having snot all over his tops.
"How about you have some cuddles here on the sofa with papa whilst I go and put on a movie and make hot chocolate," You said to Jaydyn whilst running your fingers through his hair. You were kneeling on the floor so you were in his eye line whilst he was sat on Julians lap one hand twisted in his top making sure Julian wouldn't leave.
"With marshmallows," Jaydyn said sternly. If you make hot chocolate there's always got to be marshmallows whether it's for Jaydyn or Julian or else there will probably be some tears if there are no marshmallows.
"Yes, with marshmallows," You replied, making your way to the kitchen to make the hot chocolate leaving Julian and Jaydyn alone.
"Are you okay now bärchen?" Julian asked once again just wanting to make sure that he was fine. Jaydyn had his head buried into Julian's chest and Julian moved his hand to run it through his blond hair not stopping. It was comforting and something Jaydyn loves. He could feel Jaydyn nod against his chest and relax even more against him.
"I'm sorry," Julian apologised once again leaning down to kiss him softly on the forehead. He knew that Jaydyn only started crying because of the shock of the snowball hitting his face and that scared him not because it hurt. Julian still felt bad and Jaydyn could sense that so pulled his head away from Julian's chest and looked up at him.
"It's okay papa you didn't mean it. Santa should still come to see you" Jaydyn said leaning in and kissing Julian on the cheek and patting him on top of his head. You were standing by the door holding the hot chocolates trying to hold back your laughter at Jaydyn trying to comfort Julian. You could tell by Julian's face that he was trying to remain serious asking if Jaydyn really thought Santa would still come for Julian and Jaydyn was listing off all of the reasons why he would. This is your family for the moment and hopefully, they will be happy about having another addition to it.
