Walking down the path towards Bernia Village Meliodas was by my side as Elizabeth had her arms wrapped around my left arm while Hawks was walking right next to Meliodas. Meliodas began to talk about how important was this village, all because of their famous bernia ale. I already knew about all this, Meliodas would always recite the same things time and time again whenever we would get back here for more ale.
"But this river is completely dry." Hearing Hawks remark snapped me out of my trance as I looked down on where Hawks was staring at. He was right, it was empty. "The herbs around it are also drying up." Elizabeth said as we all looked down at the now non-existent river.
"This is definitely worrying, whatever it was it must have been done against the villager's will. Nothing can just dry up the river like this, even with the cruelty of time it still survived, someone must have done this." I said, worried about if the sword that I saw earlier had something connected with his, that must explain what the villagers were trying to pull out. If they can't pull it off it must have been done by someone stronger than them by a lot, like a holy knight.
Finally arriving at the village the crowd that I saw before seemed to have consisted of almost every villager here, though, wheres Mead? Looking around I couldn't see him in my line of sight, giving up I began to pay more attention to what the others were saying, something about Elizabeth thinking this was a festival of some sort.
"Hello!" Meliodas said as he was the first of us all to approach the villagers, one villager in particular turned around to face Meliodas. "Oh, the manager of the Boar Hat." spoke one of the villagers who had a red shirt on with green skirts.
"Today is the festival of...?" Meliodas asked the villager who answered him. I looked at him with a dumbfounded expression, does he actually think this is a festival? This place reaks of frustration, as well as the people trying to pull out a sword on the ground. How do you not see it? Oh yeah, he's short.
Another man turned around, this one with an angered expression, "Huh? This ain't a festival. We are trying to draw a sword that a holy knight buried." Once he finished his sentence all four of us looked ahead, finally the realized whats happening here.
Once Meliodas and the others starting talking I began to inspect the buried sword, the power that was radiating off of it was something very similar to my fathers, electricity, king of the skies. I let out a small fond smile draw itself on my face, it has been a while since I last thought about him, though I know shouldn't even think about him anymore, so I should stop. With that, I let my neutral face resurface, completely letting go of the fond expression on my face.
"Your all pathetic." A boy said as he passed by me, though from his ridiculous hairstyle I immediately recognized him, it was Mead. "Mead! A villager cried out in frustration, though not even their tone stopped Mead, as usual. "Which Holy Knight did this sword belong to? This is nothing to my friend, a Deadly sin! As well as their companion, Imperator of Hell!" He remarked pridefully with his face also reflecting it off, though his eyes said otherwise.
A woman immediately responded to his little proclamation, she had brown hair and closed eyes, seems old. "Mead! Do you know what you're saying!? Don't mention the names of such criminals!" Another voice also brought out their sign of frustration, "That's it! We can't irritate the Holy Knights anymore."
"What do you have against us?" Another said with an angry tone. "What? This isn't what I wanted..." I heard Mead question, clearly taken aback by the anger of the other villagers that were directed towards himself.
Suddenly a man with neck-length blonde hair and beddy black eyes said in a pissed off tone, which triggered me greatly, "Enough of your bullshit!" Within a blink I was in front of Mead, not being able to contain my dissatisfaction with the amount of rudeness and vulgar words there were giving this kid.
"Enough is enough, don't you think? First, you insulting this child, and now you're saying such vulgar words towards him. Seriously, adults nowadays are just too immature." I said with a serious expression plastered on my face.
The other villagers started yelling, even more, that is until I saw a rock hit Meliodas causing a whole bunch of them to come our way making me give Mead to Meliodas to protect Hawks and Elizabeth, and Meliodas from in-coming attacks.
Finally arriving at the Boar Hat I sat at the nearest table, sitting down as Meliodas served me a drink as I thank you for covering them back there, I know how he says thanks. "My, My, looks like you don't have the best reputation around these parts. Hey, kid...about-" Before he could finish his sentence Mead interrupted him, "You're a kid, too, you know." Mead said as he was sitting down next to me with his head on the table, staring at Meliodas. With his usual kid-like face his voice represented a bit of offendedness, "No, I'm not..." Covering my mouth with my hand I let out a snicker, this was highly common since owner looked rather young, and being short didn't help.
Meliodas instantly looked at me as he pouted, though all I did was shrug my shoulder. What can I say, was I wrong? Once Elizabeth entered with Hawks she began to talk about how she misbehaved when she was young and all, she shouldn't be the one with the sad tone telling this, it should be me! I was always the one who suffered the after-effects of her actions, damn can she bring destruction to a place.
Though, something that Mead said snapped me out of my thought. He put a bug in a Holy Knights drink? I walked over at him, and once everyone recognized my presence they all stopped what they were doing and stared at me. Once I got in front of him he had his head down as he was shaking in fear. Putting up my hand...I put it on top of his head as I ruffled it. He looked up at me in surprise as I stared at him with proud eyes and with a big smirk, "That's my boy! Putting bugs in Holy Knights drinks, classic!" I stopped to wipe a tear from the amount of happiness I had at that moment. "Here I thought all that time that I trained you went to waste! Good job, Mead." I stopped ruffling his hair as I gave him a small smile, that is before I got pulled by Elizabeth.
"(Y/N)! Don't teach kids to do that! Why would you even teach him that in the first-." Elizabeth stopped talking as Meliodas grabbed Elizabeth's hand, pulling it away from its grip on mine. When I looked down at Meliodas I saw that he had a dark expression on his face making me shrink back slightly. Though, before he could do anything else I quickly grabbed both hands in my own, looking back at the two I gave them disapproving looks.
Turning towards Mead I gave him a serious look, "So, Mead, you say your friends with the Seven Deadly Sins? Is that true?" At my question, Mead only gave a sad expression, ill take that as a no then.
Sighing I went up the stairs and towards my room, peaking my head from behind the wall I said, "Wake me up when something meaningful happens." Without waiting for their reply I went towards my room and stripped off my clothes as I put on a nightgown. Why was I sleeping so early you might ask? Well, today might just be the day we find our next sin, and ill need all the energy I can get.
I yawned as I curled myself in the unkept blankets, and under its worth gave me a sensation of comfort making me fall asleep, falling into a meaningless abyss of darkness, yet a refreshing taste of power.
