"Shh... shh, it's okay."
Jeongguk's eyes shot open, instantly springing into an upright position and almost smashing his head against the brunette, who was hovering over him. "Taehyung— Tae—" His hands instinctively went to where his pendant used to be, but found nothing in his panicked state.
"I'm right here." Taehyung brought him into his arms till the boy was pressed against him. "Was it a nightmare?"
Jeongguk grabbed onto Taehyung's face, turning it to the left and then right, inspecting it for any hand marks. Nothing. He sagged against the brunette, relief seeping through his body. "I thought you were hurt. I thought he hit you." Tears began to prick at his eyes.
"Who hit me?" Taehyung frowned.
"What time is it?"
"Uh, nine in the morning."
Jeongguk tugged frantically at the brunette shirt. "Can we go see Hobi, please? Now? I'm dying to tell you about the dreams b-but I'm already jumping to conclusions and I could be completely wrong cause only Hobi knows how to—"
"Hey, hey breathe. It's okay," Taehyung said, cupping his face, "We'll go see him now."
Speeding through their morning routine, Taehyung climbed down the stairs first and was surprised to see his mother in the kitchen.
"Morning, Tae." She smiled. "I brought back turkey sandwiches from the staff lounge if you and Jeongguk are interested."
He could tell right away by her tone that she knew, and the thought of his mother peeking into his room (as she always does to check up on her boys) and witnessing them cuddle each other to sleep made his face heat up.
"Actually we're kinda in a rush." Taehyung told her, embarrassed, "I'm surprised you're still here. Don't you have adult stuff to do?"
"By adult stuff you mean volunteering to watch the kids?" Ahnjong said, "I asked not to come in today, actually. I wanted to spend some time with you and Jin. You know, see what you're up to. But you seem a little occupied with Jeongguk."
Taehyung immediately felt apologetic. "I'll be back in an hour or two. Promise. And we'll have our family time."
"Tae, look at me— Oh, good morning, Mrs Kim." Jeongguk stopped in his tracks upon seeing her.
"Just call me Ahnjong, please," She replied, "I'd rather not be addressed with that surname."
Jeongguk blinked, lips parted. "Oh, sorry, okay I won't," He said quickly before Taehyung approached him with a grin, pinching at his clothes.
"You look funny," The brunette observed.
"This is your hoodie," Jeongguk reminded him, "It's a little big on me..."
"Cute." Taehyung pulled his hood up and squished his cheeks. "You ready to go?"
They scrambled to the boys' dorm, up two flights of stairs until they stood at room 201. Taehyung knocked on the door urgently.
"You think they're up?" Jeongguk asked, his upper body still drowning in Taehyung's oversized hoodie.
"Hopefully." The brunette said right as the door swung open.
"Uh, good morning?" Yoongi greeted them, his words muffled due to the toothbrush in his mouth.
"Hi we're here to speak to Hobi about our dreams, if that's okay?" Jeongguk told him in a rush, sounding incredibly formal.
Hoseok looked up from his bed as Yoongi disappeared back into the bathroom. "Oh?"
"I can kick myself out if you want." Yoongi called.
"No it's fine." Taehyung interrupted, not wanting to be a bother. "We can talk in the common room."
"Sweet." Hoseok exclaimed, practically leaping out of bed like the morning person he was, "It's funny cause I literally had a dream last night about these piano sheets and I heard it means some frivolous event that is going to happen to me soon."
Taehyung's eyebrows furrowed, finger raised in Yoongi's direction. "Wait but he plays—"
Yoongi's eyes hardened, sending his best friend a warning glare.
"— chess. He's really good at chess." The brunette chuckled with unease. "Yeah I have no idea why I brought that up..."
On today's episode of Taehyung's inconveniencing excuses—
"Okayyy." Jeongguk nodded exaggeratedly, not foreign to the brunette's weird behavior. "Uh, let's head out?"
Hoseok pushed his feet into a pair of sneakers.
"I'll met you both downstairs in just one second." Taehyung told them before pressing a quick kiss on the ravenette's forehead that didn't go unnoticed by the others. "I want to talk to Yoongi for a bit."
"Okay."
As soon as the door shut, Taehyung was glaring back at his best friend, but only because he was concerned. "What the hell, Yoons?"
"Don't what the hell me. You know how I feel about people knowing that I play." Yoongi said quietly.
"I know." The brunette softened, pursing his lips, "But Hobi's a good guy. He's not gonna judge you for being the Mozart you are."
"I appreciate it, Tae. I do." Yoongi sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he leaned against the headboard. "But playing for you and Maddie for the first time last year was already nerve-racking enough. And mind you— I've known you both for years and I consider you family."
"Yoongi." Taehyung said with a slight pout, "Hobi is not one of the assholes you go to high school with. He won't make fun of you for being a musician. There's nothing to make fun about in the first place." He paused. "And, may I add that you're soulmates?"
Yoongi was quick to react. "That's not possible. It was probably just a coincidence that he dreamt of a piano. He already had a soulmate and I didn't dream of anything last night."
Taehyung hummed, but he was no big expert, so he had no correct answer. "I thought you guys were into each other, honestly." He admitted, "You clearly have a soft spot for him."
The boy sucked air through gritted teeth. "Well, uh, we've cuddled a couple times and we've went on, hm, bro-dates."
"Bro-dates."
"Platonic friendship dates. All we did was some hand-holding by the creek."
"Uh huh, yes, very fucking platonic."
Yoongi smacked him on the shoulder. "Stop worrying about me and go see your precious boyfriend. You're keeping them waiting."
"Okay, fine." Taehyung couldn't help but become giddy at the word boyfriend. He turned around just as he was about to leave. "Hey Yoons?"
"What?"
"We kissed last night."
"Congratulations, do you want a medal for best platonic friendship?"
"You— you can't use that against me!"
"But I just did." The older boy grinned. "Who said it first?"
"Bamb— Jeongguk said I love you first."
Yoongi blinked. "That's a surprise. Didn't he try to throw you off a cliff a few weeks back?"
"Exaggerated but yes."
Yoongi smiled, shaking off a laugh. "I'm happy for you, Tae."
Taehyung returned his expression of sincerity.
"Just be careful, okay? I know how you are. Sometimes you avoid talking about whatever's bothering you just to keep the people around you happy. But communication, Tae. Communication is key, alright?"
"Alright." Taehyung was halfway out the door now. "I'll try."
The walk down to the common room strangely sent his mind into a frenzy. He was so excited yet scared to see what Jeongguk's dreams of him were about.
But...
Just when he was about to push open the common room door, the ravenette's words slipped through the cracks and made him freeze in his spot.
"I think someone sexually assaulted him."

anyway i want to put this out there and let y'all know my plans:
- i have a project i want to finish in fifteen days. it is not published but it's a lil something i wanted to give y'all as a christmas gift. the chances of me finishing it by the 25th is slim, but i'll try my best :]
- i aim to finish DA by february or march. this is the longest book i've ever written geez. i usually finish my shorter books in one to two months but DA is already three months in. wow. i'm a writerholic.
- ghosts. i have plans for a taekook book about ghosts in the future. once i finish DA. BUT i'm also considering just making that idea an original. we'll see.
- also i'm planning on rewriting an original that wattpad deleted a while ago 💀i really want to start writing originals again. and i have a jatp fanfic collab i'm doing with someone. if you follow me, you should already know i don't just write bts. and i'm aware that not sticking to one fandom can make me lose followers but i've grown to not care as long as i'm happy writing what i wanna write
