Overall personality:
Yona could be considered the embodiment of masculine energy, but not in a toxic way. He is basically a big teddy bear. He is far from the strong silent type, he enjoys talking and socializing with others. He is the kind of guy who is a dad to just about anyone he meets, need a ride home? He has you covered, short on cash? If he can help, he'll spot you a little something to help cover the cost of your groceries. He cares a lot about the well-being of others. His daughter is his whole world. They are a package deal, if you accept him then you absolutely have to accept her. He had to raise her on his own, and there are pictures of the two of them together on all kinds of trips, most of them being related to going camping. He has a lot of energy so he needs someone just as energetic, or someone who is equally as interested in going out as he is, to keep up with him.
Having to raise a kid on your own teaches you a few things. He learned to become very self-sufficient at a young age, he had to know how to support not only himself but also his daughter. He's a very hard-working man, he not only has a strong dislike to people who laze about all day, but he also envies people who are able to relax with ease. He never really left behind his young mentality of constantly needing to stay on his toes to keep up with work, and money, and supporting his daughter. Even though his life is fairly stable right now, he still feels like he can't get comfortable.

They don't hang out all that often since he only ever sees him when he goes out to the bar, which isn't very common. He doesn't like leaving Ava home alone, especially not late at night.
Background story:
Yona had a rough childhood. His parents were pretty much never there for him, the only thing they really ever did was make sure he had money to pay for his school lunch but anything else beyond that he was on his own. He knew they weren't going to help him so he never bothered to ask them for anything, instead he turned to drugs for comfort. He used them around the middle of his sophomore year. This is also when a majority of his hookups occurred. He didn't really want to change himself until he met Veronica. She also used drugs. Their relationship started out fairly toxic, and when Veronica unexpectedly became pregnant with Yona'a child, things only became even more difficult. Both Veronica and Yona stopped using drugs during the pregnancy. Veronica had the baby with plans of giving her up for adoption but Yona wanted to keep her, he even named her. They argued over what to do with Ava for weeks.
Not long after Ava-Mae was born, Veronica relapsed. Unfortunately the drugs were more important to her. She completely abandoned Yona and Ava-Mae without a word of where they could find her, she wanted nothing to do with them. Yona went into full parent mode after that, he was heartbroken but his main focus was taking care of this new baby. His parents had kicked him out not long after the baby was born so he was stuck living in a cheap apartment for a lot of his youth. He didn't start dating again till he was in mid 20's. Unfortunately both of the relationships he had after Veronica were not very fruitful. Both Logan and Jonas saw his daughter as a hindrance to their relationship. Yona obviously wasn't having any of that so neither of the relationships lasted very long. He hasn't lost hope for a relationship but he hasn't really been actively searching. Ava-Mae worries about her father since she's noticed he seems a little lonely. He's thrown a lot of his energy into picking up jobs for work, but he could really use a break.
