"You even brought a witch with you?!"

Cera blinked. June scoffed looking very offended at her older brother.

"She is not a witch!" She scoffed.

Calaius ran his ocean eyes up and down the pale haired and violet eyed girl, wondering how she even survived this long without being executed as a witch.

"So she is a witch?" He quirked an eyebrow.

June gasped. "Calaius! She is not a witch! I found her laying unconscious in the middle of a tundra! She has no memory of who she was! How she ended up there or what her name even is!"

Calaius scoffed. "So you brought her here?"

June rolled her eyes. "I couldn't just leave her there in the cold!"

"You could've, you just chose not to." He retorted.

Cera watched this heated exchange with disbelief. This man who she thought was very handsome was just a stuck up aristocrat who was just not even a little.....kind.

No wonder June evaded the topic of Calaius on the way and preferred to talk about Allan or even Peter.

"So we've gotten as low as to host a white haired witch." The blonde man muttered under his breath.

Cera had enough of this man whose brain was the size of a pea. She stomped infront of the man glaring at him fiercely.

"I am not a witch."

"But I thought June said you couldn't remember who you were."

"No, I do not. My hair is white so what? Animals don't discriminate as much as you do."

Calaius wanted to come up with a snarky remark to shut this smart mouthed pale haired pranci-

"Thank you"

His blue eyes snapped to look at her violet ones. "What?"

"For admitting that I have a smart mouth." She shrugged her shoulders.

Calaius realized his thoughts were loud and groaned. June and Allan were snickering behind. It had been a long while since someone had ever stood up against his pompous arse.

He glared at his siblings and turned back to the pale hair. "Listen here woman, I-

"I have a name. It's Cera."

"I thought you didn't remember?" He asked haughtily.

"Your sister helped me pick one." She answered gesturing to June.

Calaius rolled his eyes and huffed. "June, you brought her here, she's your responsibility. I don't want her near me."

With that, he stormed off to what seemed like his study to rest his brooding bottom.

June rolled her eyes. "He acts more like a wee little baby more than Allan."

"Hey!" The boy whined.

Cera cracked a smile at the two adorable siblings and glanced back a the staircase that Calaius had retracted to.

It was unbelievable that those two little twins with a heart of gold share the same blood with someone like him.

As long as she had June and Allan and maybe even that dog Peter, she didn't have to bother about Mr. Prick.

He said he doesn't want her near him. As if she wanted to be near his arrogant arse.

.....

"What about this?" June asked holding up a navy blue dress that had lace on the skirt and had thick sleeves to keep her warm.

Cera didn't tell her the fact that she didn't feel the cold even in her thin dress, she didn't want to appear more crazy and prove Calaius' point.

"That one is nice." Cera agreed liking the colour of the blue.

"Then put it on." June said and threw it to her before leaving the room for her to change.

Cera removed her scarf that was around her shoulders and also the slightly wet dress and slipped on the fitted gown.

It was a little tight especially around her waist, the fabric was poking her underarms a bit but she was too engrossed in the overall beauty of the gown to complain about it.

She took a good look at herself in the mirror too.

Her white hair had curls that were like springs on a machine that extended to her waist.

Her face, she didn't know how to describe it without sounding like a complete snob.

She guessed she was average.

Her eyes was what she hadn't noticed till now. No wonder, Allan looked very surprised and uncomfortable when he saw it.

They were a bright violet that brighter than an aurora or a boreal sky, brighter than Calaius' and his was what she thought looked like an ocean.

So violet eyes weren't common here?

"Are you done yet?" June yelled from outside.

Cera snapped out of her reverie and went to open the door for her to enter.

June had a wide smile when she saw how well the clothes fit Cera.

"These look better on you than me." She complimented smoothing the wrinkles on the skirt with her hands.

"I have been meaning to ask. Do you know how old are you, Cera?" The girl asked looking at her.

"No." Cera answered. Her eyes downcast.

"It's alright." June consoled and inspected her body and face trying to come up with an approximate age.

"You look maybe twenty three winters." She smiled.

"How old are you?" Cera asked her.

"I am fifteen winters as is my brother, Calaius is twenty five." She answered.

"What year is it?"

June blinked taken aback and facepalmed, of course she wouldn't know.

"It's the 9th of December, 1868."

.....

Cera sat opposite of Allan and beside June for dinner.

At the mere age of just fifteen, the girl could bake bread, make many stews and soups and all sorts of dishes with meat and all of which smelled heavenly.

Cera wanted to dig in immediately but June told her that they would only start after Mr. Prick came.

Speaking of the devil, she heard the familiar creak of the wooden stairs as the blonde demon climbed down.

His stoic face turned to a scowl when he saw Cera and she gave him a glare back before turning her eyes back to her food.

"June, I thought I told you I don't want to see her." He snarled while pulling the head chair and sitting on it.

"You also said she is my responsibility so that means I have to make sure she is well fed." His sister retorted and Cera bit back a laugh.

Allan looked at his older brother. "Well, Cal if you don't want to eat with her, you can always go eat in your room." He said innocently.

Calaius' nose flared and for a second, Cera thought he looked like a pig. He dug his knife into the meat and the clink was so loud that it hurt her head.

"Do you have a problem, Pale hair?" He raised an eyebrow daring her to answer and she did just that.

"I just don't understand what the poor meat did to you." She pointed to his plate.

June almost spit out her soup but covered her mouth. Allan also looked like he was about to crack up and gripped his spoon tightly.

Calaius glared at Cera and she glared back equally as ferocious as him. Cera really wanted to know who put the metal rod up his back that turned him like this.

"Do not test me, woman." He sneered before abruptly getting up, the chair falling back and strode angrily upstairs into one of the countless rooms.

Cera glanced back at the twins who didn't look bothered by it all as if they were used to his tantrums.

She wondered what happened to their family. Where their parents were? Why most of this mansion was uninhabited and was left locked up?

Allan suddenly took the meat from Calaius' plate and chewed it down and the two girls stared at him.

The boy shrugged his shoulders. "More food for me."

Cera laughed along with June, the first real laugh since she had come here.

She turned to the young girl.

"I'm sorry about making him storm out."

She waved it off. "We're used to it. Believe me, there had been much worse times than this."

While the twins were bickering in their own world, Cera stared at the fallen chair that he sat on.

Calaius surely wasn't born grumpy.

But what made him turn out like this?

....

Thoughts on Calaius, June and Allan?
