"We are doing what now" Robin asked
"We will be going to each other your memories and seeing a part of your life that you hold dear to you so that you guys can become closer. We did the same thing with the Justice League and it helped us so now we are doing it with you guys" Batman explained
"Is this safe to do, what if there is some thing we dont want the others to see" Artemis asked
"Dont worry about that, we are just going to one memory. We are all allowed to have our secrets but it does help to see some of your teammates past to get to know them better" Batman said
"What if we dont like the memory it takes us to and we dont want to show everyone" Wally asked
"Then you can pull us out just by telling John to stop. After that you can pick the memory you want to show just by showing it to John and then he will take us to that memory. But I do highly suggest you stay with the memory that is chosen first since that one will be the one that will pull you guys closer together" Canary said
"What if we dont have any memories to share" Conner asked
"Oh im sure you have something to show the team that only one other person in this room knows about" Batman said staring at him
"What about the whole, 'your not allowed to tell them your real name for their own safety'. Robin said in his batman voice which was scary close
"We will cross that bridge when we get there. Now get on the slabs we are doing then rather you like it or not. It will help and you can stop it at any moment" Batman said
Everyone got onto the stone slabs even Batman and Canary
"Anymore questions before we start"John asked
"Yeah one more, whos head are we going into first and is there a order" Wally asked
"It will be at random. Now everyone clear your heads and put down your mental blockers we are starting" John said

Everyone was sucked into the head of someone. They looked around and noticed that Kaldur wasnt there
"Well I guess we are in Kals head" Robin said
"It appears so my friend" Kal said
"Whoa where did that come from" Wally said
suddenly Kaldur appear in front of everyone. The team jumped back but John, Canary, and Batman stayed still
"Ok that was cool" Wally said
"Well now what do we do" Artemis asked
"We watch" Batman said
Suddenly there was a white light and then they were standing in some sort of class room. They saw 5 kids all about 8 years old laughing and playing around expect for one. The one that wasnt playing looked oddly familiar to them. A little girl with hair and crystal blue eyes came up to the little sad boy
"Hey Kal, whats wrong" She asked
Thats when everyone felt dumb. Of course the reason the little boy looked like someone they knew was because they did know him it was Kaldur
"Nothings wrong Tula, Im fine" Kal said
"No your not, I can tell some thing is bothering you" Tula said
"Nothing for you to worry about. Now class is about to start so lets sit down" Kal said
"Wow even at 8 Kal was about being on time" Wally said
All the kids sat down as their teacher, the queen came into the room. Everyone said hello to her and she went about her teaching
"Today you guys will be learning how to control magic a little better" Queen Mera said
"Does that mean we get play with magic again" A kid with black hair asked
"Yes Garth it does, but remember we dont play with magic. We use it to help other"
All the kids cheered except for Kaldur who just sat there with a sad look in his eyes. Mera took notice of this but decided to wait till after the lesson to ask him about it. Mera took the kids to the area they would be practice magic
"Ok kids, you remember what we did last week" Mera asked
"We focused on the magic around us and let it go into our bodies" Tula said
"That is correct. Today I want you guys to do the same thing, but this time take that magic and focus on your hands and try to make a ball of magic" Mera said
All the kids nodded and went to their spot to work on what the queen said to do. After awhile Tula seemed to get it but then the ball dissipated
"Nice job Tula, that was good for your first try" Mera said as she walked by
Garth was the next ball to dissipate
"Ha I held my ball longer than you" Garth said sticking his tongue out at Tula
"Its not about winning Garth. This is so you can control magic better. Plus Tulas ball was bigger" Mera said and then walked away
Tula stuck her tongue out at Garth and then she went back to trying to make a ball of magic. Garth pouted but went back to making his own ball. The other two kids seemed to be doing good with making their balls. Mera gave then some pointers and then walked over to where Kal was. When she got over to him his ball dissipated and he started to tear up
"Hey, hey, that ok. This is your first time making a ball of magic and it was a very good ball" Mera said while rubbing soothing circles on his back
Kal nodded and smiled. A couple more minutes went by of the kids trying to make a ball and keep it a ball for longer than a minute
"Ok everyone, that was a very good lesson today. I am proud of all of you for making that ball of magics today, go home and enjoy your selves, lesson over. Kaldur can I talk to you for a bit" Mera said
Two of the kids swam over to their parents and went home. Garth and Tula looked at Kaldur and gave him a thumbs up and then swam over to their parents and left. Mera noticed that Kaldurs mom wasnt there to pick him up and she hasnt been dropping him off lately. Mera sat on her knees so she was at Kaldurs height and look him in the eyes
"Is everything alright Kaldur, you seemed a bit sad today" She asked
Kaldur shook his head no and started to cry. Mera pulled him into a hug the moment she saw the first tear
"Whats wrong Kaldur" she asked
"My....mom"
"What about her"
"She hasnt....been... the same...since..dad...daddy..left....she looks...at me ...with such disgust...she doesnt even...talk to...me anymore" Kaldur sobbed
"I thought you said these were going to be happy memories" Wally said
"I never said that, I said that they were memories that would bring you closer and get to know your teammates more" Batman said
"Oh Kaldur im so sorry this is happening to you" Mera said as she hugged him tighter. Kaldur continued to sob
"Hey I have an idea. How about you come live with me and Orion, we would love to have you and we have to the room" Mera said
Kaldur stopped crying at that and pulled away to look at her with big eyes
"Really!! I could come live with you and King Orion. You wouldnt think of me as a burden" Kaldur asked
"Of course not sweaty, we love you as our own son. It would be wonderful if you came and lived with us"
"I would love to!! Wait what about my mother"
"I will take care of her all you have to worry about is coming with me to meet Orion at the castle" Mera said
Kaldur started to cry even more but this time it was tears of joy. He hugged her and cried even more. eventually he passed out from everything happen all at once. Mera took him back to the castle and layed him down in one of the guest rooms
---time skip---
"Im home my Queen" Orion yelled
"Hello Orion, how was league" Mera asked
"Oh you know, Bats says do this and that and we dont think second about what he says. Then Flash finds a way to mess something up or make bats mad. The uasual, I swear if either of them have a kid its going to be the death of me. Could you image that, a little bat and speedster running around all over the place"
"Well it clearly didnt kill him" Conner said
"Oh no in a way it did. Once he figured out I was a thing he passed out. We had to put him in water for like a good week before he finally woke up" Robin said laughing
"When he meet me he wouldnt come out of Atlantis for a good 2 weeks" Wally said
"Now that would be interesting to see, very entertaining if I do say. Well I have a question for you and I want you to think long and hard and remember that we love him and plus I already said yes" Mera said
"Mera, you are scaring me what is this about"
"So I just found out today that Kaldurs mom hasnt been taking the care of him since his dad left. That was a long time ago, he has been taking care of himself since the day he could walk and talk. He needs better care and people who will care and love him they way he should be"
"I agree with you, but who will take him in"
"Well, I told him he could live here with us and we would take care of him"
"What! I cant take care of a kid. Im away all the time and im not even sure I like kids, they are always sticky and messy"
"Orion I already said that he can stay with us and he is all excited about it, we cant take it back now he has been through so much already and plus he is only 8"
"you are right as always, where is he now" Orion asked
At that moment they heard crying coming from down the hall. They both rushed in to see Kaldur awake and crying his eyes out. Mera pushed Orion over to the kid
"This is your chance" She said and then she walked away
Orion didnt know what to do,so he just picked Kaldur up and hugged him. This seemed to help since Kaldur stopped sobbing and was just now sniffling
"Hey its ok, I got you" Orion said
Kaldur calmed down even more to the point he was just hugging Orion now
"Hey you hungry you want to go get food" Orion asked
Kaldur nodded. So Orion walked to the kitchen still holding Kaldur in his arms. He sat him down in a chair and went to the freezer (idk what they would use underwater so just go with it) and pulled out some ice cream
"You like Ice cream" He asked
"Yeah" Kaldur said quietly
Orion grabbed some spoons and dished out the ice cream. He handed a bowl to Kaldur, he started to eat it happily. Orion also ate some ice cream, at one point though Kaldur dropped his spoon and started to cry
"Hey hey, its ok we can get you a new one no need to cry" Orion said
He got Kaldur a new spoon and that got Kaldur to stop crying. Once all of the ice cream was gone they went to the living room and sat on the couch. Since Kaldur was young Orion turned on the TV to a kids show(they can have electronics underwater because they have a fancy kind so it works) After while Orion felt something heavy on his side and saw Kaldur had fallen asleep. Right then and there Orion decided he liked kids. There was a beeping that interrupted the moment though, it was the thing that told him the league need help
"Mera, come here" Orion called
"Yes honey. Oh now itsnt that cute" She said as she saw Kaldur sleeping on Orion
"Yes, Yes very adorable but I need to go the league need me" Orion said
"Are you sure they need you right ways, it looks like he has taken a liking to you" Mera said
"Mera, its the bats. If I dont show up he is going to have my head. He is already going to have my head for being late" Orion said
"Oh alright, Ill take him" Mera said grabbing Kaldur making sure not to wake him
"Thank you, promise to be home as fast as possible" Orion said and then kissed her and swam away
----time skip---
When Orion got home he heard crying from down the hall. He swam down and saw that Kaldur was crying and Mera looking worried. Once Kaldur saw Orion though he stopped crying and went straight to him
"Whats happening" Orion said while looking down at Kaldur
"I think he likes you the most, he wouldnt stop crying till you got home" Mera said
"Why you leave" Kaldur asked
"I had to go and do my job"
"Your Job? itsnt that being the king" Kaldur asked
"haha, yeah that and Im on a team of superheros" Orion laughed
"Thats cool, image being a superhero. You get to go around and save people. Do you wear a cape"
"Yeah its pretty cool. No I dont wear a cape but one big scary bat does and on boy-scout does. Personally I think capes are dumb, they just get in the way"
"Can we play a game" Kaldur asked
"I cant, I have to go and do some work. You have to stay here with Mera for a bit longer"
Kaldur started to tear up again. Mera looked worried since he keeps crying
"hey no need to cry, you can come with me for a bit ok" Orion said
Kaldur smiled at that and hugged him. Orion looked at Mera with worried eyes. She shared the same worried eyes. The memory cuts to Kaldur on the ground with his eyes closed, he looked like he was trying to consecrate on something. Orion was at a desk on a video call with someone. Kaldur got the ball of magic to stay for a long time
"Hey look, I got it. I actually got the ball to stay" Kaldur said happily holding up the ball so Orion could see
"Nice job kid, try to make it bigger now" Orion said
"Who was that" The person on video asked
"A personal thing" Orion said
"Should we be worried"
"Nothing for you to worry about Bats, its just a personal thing I am taking care of" Orion said
"I made it bigger!" Kaldur yelled
Suddenly the ball dissipated. Kaldur started to cry. Orion went to pick him up so he would stop crying while he was on call. When Orion sat back down he put Kaldur in his lap and turned back to the computer, Kaldur was just sniffling now
"And who is that" Bats asked
"Whoa the king has a kid" Flash yelled
"1) this is Kaldur, 2) Hes not actually my kid but we are taking care of him" Orion said
"So this is why you were late last mission" Batman said
"Yeah, he fell asleep on my side and I didnt want to wake him"
"How old is he" Superman asked
Thats when Kaldur looked at the computer and saw all the heros. His eyes widen when he saw everyone
"Your the superheros right" Kaldur asked
"yes we are, how old are you" Superman asked
"Im 8 years old"
"your getting older, you going to be as strong as Orion when you grow up" Flash asked
"Yeah, I want to be just like him" Kaldur said
Everyone but Batman smiled at that. They continued the meeting, after a while Kaldur fell asleep on Orions lap. Once the meeting was over Orion picked Kaldur up without waking him and then layed him down in his bed. He made sure Kaldur was still sleeping and tucked in before he left. He walked out to the living room and sat by Mera
"Im worried" Mera said
"I am to. He cry at everything thats not normal for a kid to do right" Orion asked
"Well they do cry but not as much as him, I think he does it because it was the other way to get attention from his mom. I think he also might have separation anxiety. That would explain why we is clinging to you and crys when you are not there" Mera said
"That would make sense. I gotta say though he is cute" Orion said
"You have been a good dad like figure to him. You would make a great dad you know" Mera said
"Is that your settle way of telling me you want a kid" Orion asked laughing
"Maybe, but not right now. we should focus on Kaldur for now. We can wait to have our own kid" Mera said
"I agree, but we can defiantly have a kid someday" Orion said and then he kissed Mera
"Who knew Aquaman loves kids so much" Wally said
"Who knew Kaldur had that past" Artemis said
"I never imagined Kal to be such a crier" Robin said
"This is cute" Megan said
By the end of the memory they saw Kaldur always being next to Orion never leaving his side. Orion was being the best father figure he could to Kaldur, and made sure he had everything he wanted. After a while of being with the king and queen Kaldur stopped crying at everything, he learned that he didnt have to cry to get their attention. Up until he was 10 he had really bad separation anxiety, it died down by the time he was 11. By the time he was 13 it was almost not a thing, but occasionally he would refuse to leave someones side mostly Orion. He also started to call Orion his father and Mera his Mother when they were alone but when they were with other people he called then King and Queen
everyone was pulled back to the void of black where they started
"Ok I will say I feel closer to Kal now, never knew he had separation anxiety" Megan said
"Yeah, well it didnt help that my biological mom stopped caring for me after my dad left no matter what I did to get her attention" Kaldur said
"So youve been living with Aquaman since you were 8" Wally asked
"Yeah, they have been amazing to me, and now they are having their own kid" Kaldur said
"ok well its time to go into someone else head" John said
